Chiang Mai has started kicking off urine testing to urgently search for drug users and addicts in the area.

Many sectors in Chiang Mai Province have integrated together to launch a kick-off operation to test urine for target groups, urgently searching for drug users and addicts in the area, aiming to declare it a “white province” free of drugs by July 28, 2025.

Today (December 15, 2014) at Suthep Municipal Stadium, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai Province, Mr. Nirun Phongsitthaworn, Governor of Chiang Mai Province, assigned several agencies in the province, including the military, police, administration, and the Office of the Narcotics Control Board, as well as various network partners, to jointly launch an operation (Kick off) to solve the drug problem in Chiang Mai Province under the operation "Chiang Mai Safe City" by joining forces with all sectors to conduct urine tests on target groups aged 14-65 years, along with releasing a convoy of patrol vehicles from government agencies, police, district, sub-district, and village community operations units to patrol the area, in accordance with the government's urgent policy to solve the drug problem decisively and comprehensively.

Chiang Mai Province has set a plan to drive the resolution of drug problems in the area to cover all dimensions of drug problems and improve people's quality of life by integrating all sectors to drive according to the 3 steps of operation: preparation during December 1-14, 2024, operation steps starting from December 15, 2024 - July 15, 2025, and sustainability from July 16, 2025 onwards. The goal is to declare it a "white province" free of drugs by July 28, 2025.
