Police officers from Lom Sak Police Station successfully tracked down and prosecuted an individual after an online video surfaced showing reckless driving on a public road in their jurisdiction.

The investigation revealed that the driver was identified as Mr. Bee a 35-year-old resident of Lom Sak Sub-district, Lom Sak District, Phetchabun Province. He was riding a Kawasaki Z-250 motorcycle, as confirmed from the video evidence.

The driver’s actions were found to violate the Road Traffic Act, specifically Section 43, which prohibits driving in a manner that disregards the safety of others’ lives or physical well-being. Under this section, offenders face penalties of up to one year in prison, a fine ranging from 5,000 to 20,000 baht, or both.

The incident occurred on the 21st December at 17:00 along Route 21, Moo 3, Nong Khwai Sub-district, Lom Sak District.

The case has now been handed over to prosecutors at Lom Sak Provincial Court for further proceedings.

What is exactly reckless driving in Thailand??? I read many times " prosecuted for reckless driving" but when I drive in my car on the roads I see a lot of people reckless driving in my opinion... Motorcycles on the right lanes or in the middle of the road speeding with no helmets, cars driving at the wrong side of the road, Overloaded trucks on the right lanes to block traffic, which makes people pass on the left, and many more examples.... or is it just as the policeman in charge  find it is reckless to write a fine?? A good lawyer in that case would cancel that fine than.

@ikke1959 Without answering your question, I believe people are prosecuted for reckless driving when they post it on Facebook!

And now sort of answering your question, there are in the UK two charges that fall under "careless driving" legislation, driving without due care and attention and driving without consideration for others. "Careless driving" is a lesser charge than "Reckless driving". The law in the UK does not specifically spell out all the instances that can be prosecuted under careless driving but the litmus test that prosecutors and judges use is 'if you did that on your driving test, would you be failed?' Perhaps similar rules apply in Thailand. You would need to refer to the legislation.

Reckless driving in Thailand.

Its someone dumb enough to show online that they are not poor and show off their illegal riding / driving.

It means the BiB don't need to get off their bottoms to catch them in the act.

It means the BiB has all the evidence it needs handed to them on a plate.

It means the BiB are likely to recover 'decent' tea-money so its worth their while to pursue.
