Yeah right, just another Bob Smith thread No, he is Collin Neville from Dorset and he just arrived recently in Thailand. He speaks Thai because his Thai wife, Mrs. Smith, I mean Mrs. Neville, taught him tight for 10 years back in Luton, I mean Dorset. 1 1 1

I don't think its about a disgusting or horrendous attitude, neither is it about immaturity... Riding on the pavement (sidewalk) is just something they've always done... there really isn't any more to than that.... .. Thus, when told 'not to' there is a manner of indignation because thats what they have always done, day in, day out for years.

You've got the GoPro footage, just report him to the police and stop whingeing about nonsense like an old minger. 1

I used to use a hair salon down the road - it had nowhere nearby to park... So I'd ride my motorcylce 10m down the pavement and park next to a lamp-post (the pavement was about 4m wide). I don't think there's much harm when going at walking pace just to find somewhere to park etc... But, using the pavement as a road - IMO, thats a big no-no and bobs right - it is a selfish and antisocial thing to do, even though its the norm.... but its only a very small minority of motorcyclists doing this.. though, I've seen the police riding their motorcycles down the pavement many times.

RSD1 Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 bob, you should make a whole series of these annoying posts moaning about all the things that Thai people do that break the rules when they shouldn't. Since you're so entitled to live in a perfect Thailand you should also whine about cutting people in line, street gambling, public drinking, ignoring red lights, not wearing helmets, driving in the wrong direction, driving in the wrong lane, illegal parking, overloading motorcycles, selling alcohol during prohibited hours, ignoring speed limits, ignoring no smoking areas, burning trash, avoiding taxes, noise violations, bribing officials, etc. 2

Is this behavior acceptable in thailand? Is it the norm? Why are they so inconsiderate when it comes to pedestrians walking on the pavement??? And why don't they stop at a pedestrian crossing like they are supposed to?.. I gave him the verbals in thai and he just drove off shame faced without saying sorry, the horrible selfish git.. Is this behavior acceptable in thailand? Is it the norm? yes, and yes. when you've been here longer you'll understand how the place works. next.

When traffic goes from two lanes to one, usually pickups and larger vehicles will ignore the signs, drive to the front of the line, then push back in. Selfish driving, it slows traffic down. I sometimes wish I had sword blades on my car, like Messala's chariot in Ben Hur, so I could slash their tyres as they go by. Perhaps the OP should consider taking a katana with him for his constitutionals. 1
