Hey guys, I'm a 35 y.o. caucasian guy from South Africa interrested in making friends in Thailand with whom i can stay with when visiting. I am an attractive, well groomed, slim/well build and well mannered guy and more interrested in making friends than anyting else at first. My aim is also to find permanent residence in Thailand -I am in the Architectural line.Somebody out there to help? I would love to hear from you guys.

At your age you either need to be very skilled in your profession so that you can get a job here in Thailand, or you need to marry a Thai girl in order to get a visa to live here for a long period.

Since you are asking in this group I guess the latter is not really an option.

I am a professional architectural model builder, and would like to start off at an architectural firm if possible-anybody have addresses and contact numberss of such firms? or should i get there first and start looking?

As for finding someone to stay with ... there are plenty of places you can rent short term. I think most people would be a little too nervous to let a stranger crash at their places. (again I could be wrong)

Embarrassed would be more the word, rather than nervous.

Many young people live at home and entertaining friends, particularly foreigners could be a problem.

Hotels here can be very cheap. $5 for room with fan, $10 upwards for a/c. Better to have your own room then new friends you make can visit you.
