U.S. CDC Ordered to Halt All Collaboration with WHO effective immediately
Without a doubt the way in which the WHO is run is in need of thorough reform. It is however the only organisation in the world which fulfils that role. Health and fighting disease are global problems which pay no heed to political and national boundaries. The world stands on the brink of another pandemic - avian flu, which is reported as having already crossed into other species, in the US! Moreover I would not be surprised to see funding and the role of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention cut dramatically. -

Bangkok's Free Transport Initiative Sparks Criticism Amidst Haze Crisis
High season, big luggage and strollers, and CNY. Now free rides. BTS/MRT easily the busiest I've ever seen (Monday). Challenging to get on/off a train, dwell times must be double. Trains backed up. -

Looking forward do U.S. expats face the risk of retaliation by nations burned by Trump?
To the title ... (didn't read OP or the thread) The USA is self sufficient, as can feed & energize itself. It doesn't need any other country, so no repercussions would ever effect the USA. Total isolation would be the best thing for the USA ... IMHO Especially if manufacturing returned, and the rest of the illegal immigrants got deported. But that has to happen within the next 12 years, or it never will. -

Visiting Vietnam
I've been several times, with my TGF, as I have a UK PP I also didn't need a visa as I got 15 days on arrival, which was adequate for our plans. I've flown BKK - HaNoi, BKK - HCMC, and BKK- Danang. Danang is my favorite place in VN, less crowded & hectic than HaNoi and HCMC, very nice beach, lots of nice seafood restaurants, and as you're interested in the Vietnam War sites the best are in the central region of VN. We took the train from Hue to Dong Ha and from there found a tour guide who took us to Khe Sahn, the Rockpile, the site of the Special Forces Camp at Lang Vei, a VC tunnel site, plus a few other war era sites. Our last visit was pre-pandemic, if I was to go again to VN I'd fly to Danang and hang out there and Hoi An, maybe go to Khe Sahn again. -

UK Police Advised to Avoid Terms Like ‘Blacklisted’ and ‘Black Sheep’ Amid Concerns
"He who controls the language, controls the masses". It's no surprise Starmer believes in Stalin's famous quote. They share a lot of philosophies. Perhaps he could release a list of government approved words so we are 100% sure what we are allowed to say. He could call it the government whitelist. Oh, wait a minute...
