Does anybody know where I can buy/order a good quality jointer for woodworking.

Theres a website called Thai Carpenter thats sells tools. (Google it)

 

There are also the usual like Lazada and Shopee that will carry something but no idea as to quality etc.They have hand tools and floor standing model.

Thanks Charlie. I did check the usual web shops but they have no quality jointers.  Neither has Thai Carpenter.

It is rather important that you give your definition of quality jointers, also of course that you describe what you mean by a jointer. I rather suspect that you maybe American, you may not know that the tools you are probably referring to are known as planers in most other countries.

 

The kind of information is the in-feed/out-feed bed length and material, the style of cutter (straight knives, curved knives, spiral knives) but the most important is the width you want in the bed. Do you want, for example, a plainer thicknesseser. Lastly do you want it floor standing or desktop.

6” will be affordable once you start going wider it’s likely that the price will double for 8” and up.

Im aussie and suspected it was a Biscuit jointer that Charlie sent a link too, nothing to do with planing, I was at the Thaicarpenter close to BKK a week back, he sells decent stuff, unless your going into production what he has is more than good enough.

It is certainly possible that the OP has no knowledge of the normal terms, it is equally possible that Charlie doesn’t either.

 

However nobody who is involved in woodworking will use the word jointer to mean a biscuit jointer. 
 

The OP doesn’t visit the forum on any regular basis, is in an area with excellent tool shops and hasn’t contributed anything to clarify what was meant, so it’s just speculation. 
BTW which of the premises did you visit? The shop or the production warehouse/workshop?

Depends what country you are from, Ive certainly heard the term jointer used for a biscuit jointer before.

 

I went to the shop its west of BKK about 1 hr from city centre, not aware they have a factory, they seem to run some woodworking classes out of there but I could be wrong, there appears to be a lively hobby group a few guys walking out with what were small bench jigs and the like made for some of the gear they sell there.

 

My main reason to go there was to check out there track saw and in particular the track and there lengths and how they joined them, and a compound mitre saw.

 

Nothing like the tool shops back home but there got what I need.

Thaicarpenter had an interesting jig set up that bolted a Makita 190B planer to it to act like  this planer...

 

Ps in Australia this is a planer..not a jointer.

The factory is near/just off the main R4 road and is where the make all the wood frames and benches for the tools on the main page of the site, the shop is close to/in the town centre not far from the Chedi and is quite small. I got my router table from the factory.
