I see you are going with the tried and tested "I'll say it's never happened to me therefore it doesn't exist" defense. Anecdotal evidence even if true.

You might also wish to consider the "Only stupid people get robbed" defense. 😄

The statistics unfortunately show otherwise.

Enough of the pearl clutching...........I can only recount mine and my many friends experiences over 25 years in London and in the vast majority of cases it's very positive. I feel safe walking around most places in London to include the East End and South London where I also lived for about 5 years. Again, no one is minimising the very real issues of crime in London, but this was all started by one poster calling London the 'wild West' which it certainly isn't.

A lot of my Thai colleagues travel through Heathrow as we have offices near London.

It's always the first thing they comment on when they get back. "Why so many Indian work there"? 😄 I guess they are blissfully unaware of how Diversity is our greatest strength. Their government has cruelly denied them the cultural enrichment that we witness daily on British streets/malls.

Not like you Jonny to be championing diversity in the UK. New Years resolution?

Never said there wasn't crime in London (it's a big place so obviosly) but the trend over the last 30 years has been massively downwards and is nothing in comparison to other major cities (have a look at New York figures for a good comparison).
I'm not minimising the very real issues of knife crime in London as it has certainly been a issue for many years but in general London is a very safe place certainly in the main, central areas. Like everywhere though, if you wander into some of the less 'touristy' areas then you have to keep your wits about you. But isn't that the same in most major cities?

London is a very safe place certainly in the main, central areas.

I was in a main central area....lol

Regards the rest of it, I'm also from London and know where to avoid thanks.

You talked about a plain clothes officer telling you to watch out for your phone! Hardly a life threatening incident I hope you agree.

Not like you to deliberately misinterpret a post.

Oh wait, yes it is. 😄

PS. I actually live in Thailand so New Year is a few months away. Unlike many who move to the UK, I like to integrate...

I don't do crystal balls.

If the police had not intervened, how do you know how it would have gone down?

Weird thing to say. It's you who gave the example and it was about a plain clothes copper giving you the heads up about keeping your phone safe - 'how do you know how it would have gone down' - well you might have had your phone stolen. That's it.

Lighten up Jonny. Your post talked positively about the 'diversity of London'. I wasn't 'deliberately misinterpret a post' - rather I was congratulating you on being positive about London diversity - something you rarely talk positively about.

There you go again with that crystal ball. How do you know how it would have gone down I asked you? If you think it could just have been a phone snatch with no attempt by mself or others with me to stop him I can tell you clearly no, that would not have been "Thats it"

As for Covent garden it actually has a very high rate of crime including violent related incidents

Really?

Are you aware that Westminster, Camden, Kensington/Chelsea and Islington are the top 4 for crime?

https://www.churchillsupportservices.com/resources/news-insights/top-15-most-dangerous-areas-in-london/

Sound pretty main and central to me.

I've lived in Eltham, Woolwich, Greenwich and Camden and all 4 were pretty dangerous. My friend got bottled in Camden on his way home from the pub, requiring 35 stitches on the side of his face.

I wonder if you ever go further than the local Waitrose?

Chomps can't have been to Stratford in the last few years.

One more time for the hard of comprehension - I'm not saying there is no crime in london - that would be ridiculous. All I'm saying is it's not the 'wild west' that another poster pointed out.

You are arguing just for the sake of it (pretty typical with you) and are doing exactly what you accused me of - providing anecdotal scenerios that you personally (or at least your unfortunate friend) have experienced. So let's just agree to disagree - you think London is some sort of war zone - I don't think it is and so do those that take the time to look at these things, ranking London as the 14th safest city in the world   https://worldpopulationreview.com/world-city-rankings/safest-cities-in-the-world

It didn't happen. No need for your thoughts, let alone prayers.

Name me one strength of diversity..come on, just one....and not the ole better food rubbish either. Diversity has been our greatest weakness, split neighbourhoods, made us poorer, made us have to work up to 7 years longer, made people scared to go anywhere etc

Ive always wondered, is it easy to see out of those white hoods?

No, I don't normally indulge, seldom find the need to, plus its nothing to do with the topic.

Can't name one can you...?????

A troll post with implied racism has been removed.

Well I've worn a real Tag Heuer for about 30 years and I've never had as much as a second look whilst wearing it in London so yet again, sensationalist nonsense posted to fit your warped narrative.

Crime in London and steadily decreased over the last 30 years and although I'm not saying it's not nothing, it's nowhere near as bad as you are trying to make out - https://theconversation.com/most-crime-has-fallen-by-90-in-30-years-so-why-does-the-public-think-its-increased-228797

So I'll repeat my question which you so conveniently ignored the first time of me asking, when was the last time you went to London and more importantly, where in London did you go to see so much violence?

I'm guessing never or certainly not recently.

Never set foot in London, BUT as the article states, knife crime went up several hundred percent and there's tons of videos on youtube from watch channels that say that it's not a good idea to walk around in certain parts of London with a luxury watch on and the people who run these channels are from the UK. Also, it's also a well known fact that scooter gangs rob people on a daily basis and they steal bikes with angle grinders in broad daylight. There's also tons of videos on youtube showing exactly that! Are they all lying?

Can't win. They rob the stores in blatant gags. HIT AND RUNS.

Shame on our government's. For not having the guts to stand up to these organized criminals.

IF YOU WANT TO STOP THE ILLEGALS FROM RUINING OUR COUNTRY. (STOP PAYING FOR HOTELS) AND FREE MEALS, FREE MEDICAL.  FREE EVERYTHING.

And start using tasers!!

Explain this having to work seven years longer claim.

Ahh I see. So you have never set foot in London but feel you can comment on what London is all about because you watched a couple of YouTube videos? By that definition I'm an expert in New York because I watched Friends.

Again, I'm not saying there isn't knife crime or crime in general in London, but you would be very unlucky to ever see any never mind experience it.  And yes, I wouldn't recommend brandishing a luxury watch in CERTAIN parts of London but then again I wouldn't be stupid enough to wear a luxury watch walking through Brookly or South LA either. It's called common sense.

Friends is a fictional comedy. YouTube videos are records of actual crimes being committed.

Ah, I had a feeling victim blaming would be along soon. The same mentality as saying to a rape victim "What do you expect if you wear a short skirt and no Burka in Bradford".

What’s ‘diversity’ got to do with retirement age?
