I had a problem with new Oppo phone - some banking apps detected threats and shut down. Could not figure out which app did it. Now it seems clear. Oppo/Realme preinstalled some apps which have full permissions set, and cannot be removed (well, they could be with ADB but would likely be installed back after next update). Fineasy is one of them, which has caused lots of noise in past few days and hit the media.

While Oppo promises to provide a way to uninstall those apps through update, and stop including such apps in the future, right now you can only remove it by yourself with ADB in developer mode, or take your phone to Oppo service center to uninstall it for you.

Alternatively, you could disable it - tap and hold on the app, tap on manage, Force Stop the app, tap on Disable app, then clear cache and clear data under storage.

For those more techy... Adb shell pm uninstall --user 0 com.fintech.life

Unsure whether Bangkok Post or The Nation links are allowed now, so admin, please remove them if not allowed:

https://www.nationthailand.com/business/tech/40045081

Snippet from above links:

"The council [ Thailand Consumers Council ] is calling on government agencies, including the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, the Office of the Personal Data Protection Committee, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, the Office of the Consumer Protection Board and the Bank of Thailand to investigate the issue promptly to protect consumers from potential online financial fraud."

So if you have an Oppo or Realme phone and use them for anything important, do take notice and disable preinstalled apps, or take it to the service center to get it done for you.

Don’t understand why anyone would purchase a Chinese phone in this day and age

OK, now please share a photo of the label on your phone's box to show where it was manufactured.

You can only hope that the fancy brands manufactured in China are under close inspection for potential "add-ons".

iPhone and Samsung are assembled/manufactured in China under close supervision. Why would china risk losing foreign manufacturing companies by inserting hijacks in those foreign companies phones? Chinese companies are closely supervised by the government, who knows what they have put in the cloaked coded eprom’s

When I first moved to China in 1999/2000, my apartment building housed a bunch of Korean Samsung employees.  3 or 4 days a week, the van would come by and pick them up (with their sticks) to spend the day golfing.  The "supervision" isn't as close as they'd like you to believe.
