US Vice President-elect JD Vance has shed light on the implications of Donald Trump’s recent warning that “all hell will break loose” if the remaining hostages in Gaza are not released by January 20. Speaking on *FOX News Sunday,* Vance explained the strategy behind the Trump administration’s ultimatum, emphasizing the need to dismantle Hamas’s leadership and infrastructure.

“It means enabling the Israelis to knock out the final couple of battalions of Hamas and their leadership,” Vance said. “It means very aggressive sanctions and financial penalties on those who are supporting terrorist organizations in the Middle East. It means actually doing the job of American leadership.”

According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), two of Hamas’s 24 battalions remain intact in central Gaza, where they are believed to be holding 98 hostages. The IDF has exercised caution in the area, avoiding large-scale operations to minimize the risk to hostages, some of whom have already been killed during prior operations or executed by Hamas when they feared imminent attacks.

While Vance refrained from detailing the nature of financial sanctions planned under the Trump administration, the outgoing Biden administration has already imposed significant sanctions on Hamas and issued arrest warrants for several of its leaders.

The incoming vice president credited Trump’s firm rhetoric with advancing negotiations for the hostages’ release. “We’re hopeful there’s going to be a deal struck toward the very end of Biden’s administration — maybe the last day or two,” Vance stated. “But regardless of when that deal is struck, it will be because people are terrified that there are going to be consequences for Hamas.”

Trump’s warnings and the ongoing diplomatic efforts underscore the international stakes of the Gaza conflict and the urgent need to secure the hostages’ safe return while addressing the broader threat posed by Hamas.

So that’s where Vance has been, he’s been reading his Dante, only to emerge gleeful that there are more circles of hell to visit on a civilian population.

You should tell that to Hamas who have created those circles of hell on its own civilian population and who are still holding the hostages.

"..................if they don't release the hostages"

“all hell will break loose” if the remaining hostages in Gaza are not released"

Its an important bit of the quote , removing that important bit changes the meaning of the quote

I don’t think the civilians are holding any hostages.

But regardless that was not my point.

The civilian population is already in a living hell, Vance and Trump are seemingly looking forward to delivering them into the next circle of hell, others relish the prospect.

The civilians support the hostage taking , they will also pay the price .

The civilians that sold hostages to Hamas when they captured them are not holding them anymore, correct.

The hostages that were rescued after being held by civilians, a prominent Palestinian journalist actually, are not being held by civilians anymore, correct. They are back in Israel and the civilians who held them killed in a shoot out with the IDF.

How do you know there are no more hostages being held by civilians, do you have some insider knowledge on this or just making things up?

How about UNRWA staff, are they holding any more hostages? Why has the civilian population been living in hell?

Why do you think Trump and Vance do not want to have the hostages returned as preference?

Lots of questions there I know you'll ignore...............

Civilians are a casualty of war, in this case started by Hamas. Civilians should not be used as human shields. And certainly should counsel their kids not to get involved. But hey, if they die they get counted as children in the Hamas death numbers.

These civilians are more involved than most, given their celebrations of the Oct 7 atrocities, support for Hamas, and allowing them to use civilian infrastructure for weapons storage and command centres. I get very annoyed when some are quoted by media with statements like "not here, they don't have any command centres under our hospital" and the like.

I am sure there are some who have long been anti-Hamas and such a shame they should suffer, but that's what happens in wars. Ask the French, British, Germans, Russians and Vietnamese about their civilian casualties, which I think you'll find were a much higher % than Gaza, even with the Hamas human shield strategy.

NGOs are gormless and have lost a lot of respect with their inane appeals. UNRWA - long actively complicit against Israel.
