Georgealbert Posted Friday at 10:08 PM Posted Friday at 10:08 PM Picture from responders. A gas-powered taxi was completely destroyed in a fire near the Korp Or intersection on Chantrubeksa Road on the afternoon of January 17. The driver, an 81-year-old man, narrowly escaped with minor injuries. The incident occurred at approximately 13:25, prompting Lieutenant Warinthon Khunurat, deputy inspector of the Sai Mai Police Station, to rush to the scene. The blaze engulfed a green and yellow taxi, licence platefrom Bangkok, which was parked in the first lane of the road heading towards the Korp Or intersection. Firefighters from the Royal Thai Air Force quickly arrived and managed to extinguish the flames, but not before the vehicle was completely destroyed. Nearby trees also sustained damage from the intense heat. The driver, identified as Mr. Anan Phattanakhomsan, aged 81, sustained burns on his arms and was treated at the scene by rescue personnel. According to Mr. Anan, the fire began in the engine compartment while he was driving along Chantrubeksa Road. He immediately pulled over and attempted to contain the flames, but they spread rapidly, leaving him with no choice but to flee away from the vehicle. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, with initial suspicions pointing towards a malfunction in the vehicle’s gas system. -- 2025-01-18 2

ronster Posted Saturday at 08:23 AM Posted Saturday at 08:23 AM Either likes his job or he can't afford to give it up. Fair play at 81 though. 2
BerndD Posted Saturday at 08:54 AM Posted Saturday at 08:54 AM If I hadn't read that it was a gas-powered car, I would have asked: since when have there been TESLA taxis in BKK? 2 1

SHA 2 BKK Posted Saturday at 11:39 PM Posted Saturday at 11:39 PM Was it American "Gas" or proper Gas? That is the question. The old bugger will be shaken after that - hats off to him working at 81, but as others have said maybe no choice.

soi3eddie Posted Sunday at 01:37 PM Posted Sunday at 01:37 PM Kudos to Mr 81 year old taxi driver. It could have been worse, it could have been an expensive Electric Vehicle (EV). Luckily he got out alive without the doors locking him inside.

Some of those who replied to me here are obviously so convinced of their Quora mission that they don't even see the joke anymore, let alone understand it. Sorry.
