American and Canadian Tourists Die After Collapsing at Phuket Music Festival

 

Two tourist passed away after collapsing at a music festival in Phuket. Authorities are investigating the cause of death, with an autopsy to be conducted. This is the second recorded foreign death at the music festival, after it was earlier reported that an American had also died.

Elephant Panics at Fireworks Display, Injures Several at Fair

An elephant startled by fireworks at a fair in Nong Bua Lamphu, caused chaos on the event’s opening night, injuring five people as it ran through the crowd. The incident occurred  during the annual tribute event to King Naresuan the Great.

32 Indonesian Nationals Caught Crossing Into Thailand, Claim They Were Tricked Into Working

In the early hours of January 19, military personnel patrolling the Thai-Myanmar border apprehended 32 Indonesian nationals illegally crossing into Thailand. The group, consisting of 30 men and two women, was intercepted near Ban Wang Takian Tai, Village 7, Tha Sai Luat Subdistrict, Mae Sot District, Tak Province.

A forest fire that ravaged Khao Krathing in Sattahip District, Chonburi, for two days has been successfully extinguished. Officials have confirmed that the cause of the fire was not natural but the result of human activity, with evidence also showing pipes illegally laid up the mountain contributed to the spread of the flames.

Elephant Charges and Injures Farmer in Trat

A wild elephant known as "Si Daosap" charged at a farmer, severely injuring him after he attempted to drive the animal away from his plantation in Trat Province. The incident occurred at around 12:00 on January 19, when 43-year-old Anan, the plantation owner, fired a loud fire cracker in an attempt to chase the elephant away, fearing for his crops.

Three Killed, Two Injured in Pickup Truck Crash in Kamphaeng

A crash claimed three lives and left two others injured when a pickup truck collided with the rear of an 18-wheel sugarcane lorry just five kilometres from home. The collision occurred at around 13:00 on January 19, on the Khanu Woralaksaburi-Bueng Samakkhi Road in Kamphaeng Phet province.

Thailand braces for cold weather and possible thunderstorms

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has forecasted cold to very cold weather across northern and northeastern Thailand, with temperatures dropping to single digits. Bangkok will see temperatures as low as 18 degrees Celsius. Additionally, five provinces are expected to experience thunderstorms today, January 20.

Firefighters Battle Blaze at Naval Housing in Sattahip

Firefighters, some of whom had only just returned from a two-day battle against a forest fire on Khao Krathing, were thrust into action again in the early hours of January 20. At 03:30, a fire broke out at a naval housing complex in Bang Saray subdistrict, triggering an immediate multi-agency response.
