If they can only deflect the issue for a few more weeks, then they'll be able to lay the blame on neighbouring countries, ( with a degree of justification)......

In all honesty all the neighboring countries are equally guilty. That's why the situation is favourable to all of them to fingerpoint the others and just hide their heads to sand without doing anything than talk

ASEAN proving it's worth in the matter also pretty well.

At rush hour now they pack them in like sardines and often people are unable to get on some of the trains. Can only imagine the mayhem during this week if the uptake is as high as they hope.

Even now, the blue line from Bang Sue into Asok is always very crowded, not only at peak times. I use it at around ten thirty in the morning, a couple of days a week, and it is very full even then. Peak hour outward from Asok and everyone is packed in like sardines like you said, simply cannot board some trains. The Red Line isn't as crowded, but in peak hour there are no longer spare seats since they started the twenty baht fare promotion, which I guess is a good thing.

The reading in northern Bangkok near me right now is 205, but I'm hoping it improves so I can venture out. At times you can smell smoke in the air. I have developed a terrible cough, so I wear an N95 mask every time I walk out the door, it's causing real health issues for me at the moment.

"Authorities have strongly advised residents to stay indoors, encouraging working from home and limiting outdoor activities to mitigate health risks. "This situation is extremely concerning, and we advise everyone to take necessary precautions," a City Hall representative stated."

The best they could come up was that everyone should take necessary precautions, whatever that may be. What they are implying is If your health is advesely affected, its all your fault. It's your responsibility to move away from Bangkok, no one asked you to move there. Pollution is away of life in Bangkok and everyone should get used to it. If not, move out. End of. Sorry, not end of. Before you leave Bangkok, don't forget to tell your friends how great the city is and how much the city has to offer (TAT suggestion).

This morning is the worst day I have ever seen in Bangkok. Thick, chocking, lung disease filthy smog.

Terrible smoke buses and cars everywhere.

Noise pollution should be added and addressed as well,  kid's remove mufflers form their motorbikes increasing air pollution and making night sleeps unbearable

Every night this week there is a real strong smell of smoke in the house , and in the morning a smoky haze and the stench of burnt cane.

Yep....same here......now keeping all the windows and doors closed and have the air-con on......utterly farcical

What happened to this traditional strategy? Not working anymore?

The only thing that has changed is that their heads are buried even deeper.

Their suggestion that people should be encouraged to work from home is asinine. If that were possible, the city would ground to a halt, not to mention most people would not be getting any pay.

I hope they put on extra services to cater for the increased passenger numbers. At rush hour now they pack them in like sardines and often people are unable to get on some of the trains. Can only imagine the mayhem during this week if the uptake is as high as they hope.

Isn't it just a matter of waiting for the next one... I've had to wait for the next train before, but you can still get on a train.

It’s not just Bangkok and the north either. A couple of weeks ago I was in Bang Saray on a sunny day, looking north towards Pattaya about 20Km away and it was fully encompassed in it.

Pattaya has places near the beach with just as high readings as Bangkok. It was very hazy this morning.

high season... lol.... tourists are dumb to come during toxic air burning season, known for decades and ZERO solutions

It's not dumb coming for a one or two-week holiday, even with high readings. Tourists normally can't choose when to travel and In most cases would be unaware of the air pollution problems.

I don't have any health ailments resulting from the high levels, and I do intense exercise most days. I don't notice it at all. What's the point of worrying about it? Most of us are old anyway and soon to expire LOL.

Next headline should read "Thai people most selfish and lowest IQ of all developing NATIONS". 😢

While it certainly does seem that way when living amongst it just google "average IQ in sub Saharan Africa " to understand how bad it can get!

...And yet you continue to ignore black smoke bellowing from Exhaust pipes and garden fires every day. Phuket is one of 64 provinces choking every day. If you want to kill Thai tourism just carry on. Suits me !

I would wholeheartedly agree.....but....... many of the tourist "types' headed here for two or three weeks could not careless about AQ.....they have their minds fixed on much loftier things.

Yesterday in Bangkok about 300 schools were closed. So kids got a chance enjoy Bangkok's smog at home playing their phones and tablets.

Think again - almost all schools. That's hulluva crowd of pupils, isn't?

Sports in school canceled because of Air quality in Rayong.

I can accept that.  As long as they don't go down the Covid road and start closing the schools completely!

What the <deleted> happened to that gentle sea breeze I keep reading about?

That's actually the latest eco trend...

Bamboo thatched huts with no AC. You just open the windows and use mosquito net.  Doesn't work if there's no wind.  Super hot.  I think some of these eco huts don't even have fans.

As long as the tourists keep coming they are the priority in Thailand money 💰

Nothing will improve

but if there is  a downturn in numbers coming 😱

Well changes could happen very quickly

''Happen very quickly'' ?    They would have to grow Brains first !!

Cross your fingers the winds will make it all over.
