On January 28, a group of children found a shocking scene while playing football near a canal in Om Noi, Krathum Baen district, Samut Sakhon province. Chasing after their ball, they discovered a decapitated body missing its arms in the water.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Atsadawut Eadkeaw from Krathum Baen police station reported receiving the alarming call at approximately 7:30 p.m. The grim discovery was made near a construction site for a riverbank protection dam, quickly gathering a crowd of concerned locals.

The corpse was severely decomposed, with only skeletal remains visible from neck to lower legs. Some flesh and internal organs were still intact but were fragile. Identifying the gender was not possible due to the condition of the body. The victim wore just a pair of shorts and some tattered clothing fragments, offering no clues to their identity.

Authorities believe the person might have been dead for several months. After retrieval, the remains were sent to Siriraj Hospital’s forensic institute for a detailed examination.

The children explained they were at a village sports ground next to the canal when their ball rolled to the riverbank. When they went to fetch it, they noticed something odd floating near a pontoon. Initially unsure, they used a stick to prod it and realized it was a human body. They quickly told nearby adults, who confirmed their disturbing find and contacted the police.

Police checked with local villagers to see if anyone had been reported missing in the past couple of months, but there were no reports. This leads them to believe the body could have floated to this location from elsewhere, carried by the current, and got stuck near the pontoon until its discovery.
