Guys ,

Its been 2 years since we started the football team , Playing our first ever Kick around at the hard pitch of Chula. Its been great to know alot of people , There have been up and down throughout the season. Getting trashed in our first ever league game against the bullshead by more than 10 goals but we did fought back and improved week by week.

Sunbelt Asia United Fc have withdrawn from this year Casual League season 2007-2008 and will not be sending a team to any other leagues .

I would like to say thank you to the sponsors, Mr Greg Lange and wife who have been very supportive towards the team and players all this long. And also Thank you to George (Thaivisa.com) for hosting the team forum and was the first to support the idea of the football team.

Thank you guys for playing in the Sunbelt colors the last two years. A special thank you to Tytus.

We have decided to not sponsor the team as the team would be in the second division. Not where you or we want to be. We feel the league was unfair by just now making the announcement of two divisions. That however is the way it is as it is their ball. If we don’t like it, we only have the option to send a team or not and we simply are not interested in sending a second division team to play. In our hearts, we know you guys are much better.

All the best Guys. You'll always will have a special place in our hearts.

It's definitely been an eventful roller coaster ride during the past 2 years. Who will ever forget our first ever game against the Bull's Head Brazilians? I for one will never. In saying that, we did improve and the highlight of our first season had to be scoring 2 late goals to draw 3-3 with the once mighty Dubliner.

Last season we also had some impressive displays. At our best we could match any other team in the league. I was particularly impressed at how well we fought against the Londoner and Bull's Head. It didn't matter that we lost, it was the fighting spirit that mattered. Then of course there were the impressive victories over the British Club, BSL and the Germans to name a few. In addition to that, we've also had some good trips down to Pattaya and some good nights out after the games. It's a pity that everyone in the team didn't come out to socialize, but I like to think that during my 2 years with Sunbelt that I've made many friends.

Unfortunately for Sunbelt we were going to be placed in the second division. For me the 2nd division will probably be more like the Vets. I must admit that towards the end of last season a few of us, including myself, began to lose our appetite for playing week in week out. The thought now of playing in the 2nd division kind of makes it hard to get enthusiastic about playing and is it really worth the sponsor investing more money in us? I think that Tytus and Greg are probably doing the right thing by withdrawing the team from the league.

Finally, I must say a big thank to Greg and all the sponsors. Without your backing none of this would have been possible. Also thanks to Tytus starting the team and the effort you put into organising the team in your spare time every week.

I wish all the former members of the team good luck.

Now that I'm released and a free agent, I expect that my phone will be red hot with offers from Barcelona and AC Milan. Not!!

Its really sad to here this and a shame that the team won't be participating in the causal league next season. It feels like it was just a few months ago that I was new to life in BKK and new to Sunbelt Asia United FC. Man how time has flown by. Thanks to joining the team I came in contact with many people during this year. Some of them I have not spoken to in a while, but most of us (the usual suspects that is) still met up and have a good time together. Most of my good friends here in Thailand I have gotten to know through our weekly games together in Pattana.

Its a shame that things haven't worked out for the next season and I will be sad not be meeting up with the team every Saturday for our weekly kick abouts and after game activities..

To be honest, even though we have had or rough patches and our ups and downs the season as a whole has been a great experience.

One clear memory that stands out in my mind is our very first game of the season.. You guys remember, away against Pattaya City. I think I had only been with the team for a few weeks before this game and I had no idea what to expect from the game.. Fair enough we ended up losing pretty badly (don't care to repeat the score as I am sure that we all remember it) but the gam and the whole time we spent together down there turned out to but one of the best times I have had since leaving Sweden. I did end up coming back to Bkk with a few scares (not football related) to remember the trip by but what can I say; that day was truly my introduction to life in Bkk and Thailand.. =P But back to football, Chicken Little, i mean there are really no words to describe this mans contribution to the game...lol

Anyway, we started of the season abit "poorly" but as it progressed and we started getting to know eachother I find that we really started to "gel" as a team.. This definately showed when we had our games against Bulls Head and Londoner in the return legs of the season. Talk about everyone pulling there load and really fighting together as a team. Its was amazing to watch as well as be a part of these games..

Fair enough things did seem to fizzle out abit at the end of the season but I am still sure that if we had been able to maintain the same aggression and passion as we did in the BH and Londoner games we would have had a season where all the teams in the league would know that Sunbelt Asia United where no push over team!

Anyway, thanks to all for a great and memorable season and for all the laughs/good times we've experienced together. Best of luck to everyone that carries on next season and I really do hope that everyone can find a team to play for. Thanks to Sunbelt Asia and the rest of the sponsors for making this season possible. Big thanks to Tytus for investing his time in the team and for believing in me even though my performances sometimes where for lack of a better word "appauling".

As for me next season I have been considering a few options since the Vikings approached me and asked me to join them at the end of the season. Alas for the poor Vikings, I came to Thailand to get the hel_l AWAY from SCANDOS so i will not be joining their team.. =P

Take care all and best of luck to you all again.. Tytus and the rest of the boys, see you on friday for our "goodbye" drinks night!

ps. guys where are we meeting up on friday? u all know where I am suggesting only question is what you guys think?? haha

A quick thanks to Greg/Sunbelt for sponsoring.

We can still hang out after games all we want! We do not have "the cave" but my humble abode is always an option!

Cheers!
