Taiwan Labels Thailand as High-Risk Travel Destination

I love the Taiwanese, all Asians really, highly civilized people, bujt they strike me as overly prone to fear. Like when you go to the bathroom and they tell me they're terrified if I flush toilet paper down the toilet. Instead, to be safe, put it in the bin. Really?

Or wearing masks in times of no pollution and no covid, you know it happened!

They are so afraid of everything. It's weird. How can you be afraid of Thailand, one of the safest places on earth? As long as you're not driving and breathing.

Hi, you are in Malaysia?

Taiwan's govt kicked  out own criminals to the mainland of China, after they were expelled from Malaysia?

Quite amazing.

Thank you for sharing what you knew about scamming business over there.

Have a good day.

The Taiwanese government freed the scammers, not kicked them to mainland China.

That's why subsequently the Malaysian government deported the Taiwanese scammers to mainland China instead. The Taiwan government was not happy about it and protested.

Taiwanese scammers are found in many parts of the world, such as Cambodia, Indonesia, Spain, Kenya, Armenia.

Malaysia deports Taiwanese to Mainland China because Malaysia is licking China's boots.

As I have said before,  Taiwanese are very valuable workers in the scamming industry,  they speak Chinese (for the main market) and English (for the US, the emerging market) and they are digital natives.

The bosses are mainland Chinese.

No scam enterprise is interested in 75y.o. Swiss computer illiterates.

Their most unknown exports.: Cyber Criminals?

And what actually happened to them, after Malaysia sent them to China, instead of their home country(Taiwan)?

Were they jailed there?

Or started the same again there?

Already shown you the news that originally Malaysia deported the Taiwanese scammers to Taiwan, but too bad the Taiwanese gov simply released them all. Of course Malaysia got angry and deported them to mainland China instead.

The Taiwanese were involved in the scamming business earlier than the mainlanders. They were not all victims, although some of them were. They are still in the business. The mainlanders have learned the business from the Taiwanese scammers.

Jou notes that fraud arrests in Taiwan surged nearly tenfold in the first decade of this century, from 3,200 in 2001 to 31,000 in 2009. By 2014, fraud arrests had fallen to 15,000. “It is believed that the fraudsters and their groups have moved overseas (China, Southeast Asia, other countries) since 2009,” Jou said, citing Chinese police data which indicate fraud cases rose from 130,000 in 2006 to 200,000 in 2010 and 320,000 in 2013. The first media report of a cross-Strait fraud case was published in 2010, and the first Taiwan-Vietnam fraud case appeared in 2013.

Of course jailed there. Taiwanese scammers originally operated from Taiwan. After clampdowns by Taiwan authorities, the scammers moved to China. When mainland police cracked down on them, they moved to Southeast Asia. That's why you see Malaysian authorities caught so many Taiwanese scammers.

You are funny.

You follow your masters from Mainland China in every sentence - and then you say mainlanders are too stupid to develop a good business idea by themselves?

Hi, thank you for your follow-up info.

So Malaysia and China got an agreement of Prosecution based on the extradition of the foreign criminals(another country punishes  foreign nationals instead of their home country)?

Or they were simply prosecuted because of their past crime in China itself, in the case you mentioned?

Anyway, nice to know those lowlifes ended up in  Chinese prison(where they face the harsh enough environment that fraudsters really deserves.

Always felt that the modern  1st world is often sick enough to be too nice to those unforgivable bast*rds. Their stockade conditions don't look punishing enough.

There should be no such thing as Comfortable Punishment for those ruined other people's life(physically, psychologically,  and/or financially.

Thailand doesn't seem to be the safest place in the world, according to the following statistics.

thailand peace index ranking - Google Search

But to me, it is Safe Enough; I have really never felt any dangerous atmosphere( in terms of violent crimes) while here(since late 2005).

And I am more sensitive to danger above average.

Most part of this kingdom seems safe enough, as long as we live according to our common sense and exercise reasonable level of  security precautions.

Asians are highly civlized, it just their civilization has some differences to our own civilization. For istance this greater fear emphasis and the lack of truth and integrity as a value, but apart from this differences clearly Asia is more civilized than Europe in many respects.

Obviously there are differences between nations, but I am referring to South East Asia, where we are of course, and Thailand in particular. Taking away some of the superstition component which saw a 70 year old man persuading believeres to consume his bodily fluids as they thought they would heal them, and other ludicrous superstitions, which let's not forget proliferated in Europe not so long ago and still do in some quarters, Thailand is a very civilized place.

Of course Pattaya and parts of the South are not that safe, but I am referring to Chiang Mai, where I lieve and Bangkok really. I have never felt unsafe in Thailand. Though I like to leave the door open to encourage intruders like Pagliacci.

It is insulting to anyone's intelligence to equate such exceptional instances as somehow indicative of a lack of civlization, equally one could argue that school shootings in the US, Jack the Ripper in the UK hacking people to death, etc etc somehow negates British or American civillization. Plainly a wholly ludicrous argument of very low intelligence.

Civilized societys dont go around hacking the next door neighbor to death for too much noise ?    or killing the gf because she's chatting on the phone,  or shooting someone because they called him names ....  or shooting someone in the bar because you were really drunk ...    on a daily bases,  the respect of life in thailand does not exists life is cheap

You have to laugh at this nonsense, as if in the US, UK or Canada or Australia nobody killed their gf or neighbour. There is far more crime and domestic violence in those countries, and none of that somehow negates Western civlization. Neither do instances of crime in Thailand do so.

Just a ludicrous and laughable argument.

The Cambridge English Dictionary defines a civilised society or country as one with a well-developed system of government, culture, and way of life where people are treated fairly. A fair justice system is a fundamental part of a civilised society.

1 well-developed system of government   NO

2 culture                                                            YES

3 way of life where people are treated fairly NO

4 A fair justice system                                       NO

I think the NO have it !!

Since late 2005, I have been in Chiang Mai.

And I have never felt unsafe here either; I can walk the street before dawn(to go to local market for grocery shopping) without any fear.

It is often told that the best of this kingdom is found in the north(including Chiang Mai).

And I have never heard of any theft cases in the apartment I live in.

In contrast, I have heard of the foreigner(in Pattaya) who has been burgled 4 times in just 3 months(sometime around 2007).

Level of safety certainly seems to be different from place to place within Thailand.

Do you keep your door open expecting some intruder?

In my room, the only possible Intruders are very few mosquitos  and  a couple of...

Actually, the Taiwanese scammers targeted both Taiwan people and mainlanders. That's why both the mainland and Taiwanese governments wanted to arrest them. After the Taiwan authorities freed the scammers, they realized their mistake after Malaysia subsequently deported Taiwanese scammers to the mainland so eventually they jailed the freed scammers in the hope that future deportation goes to Taiwan instead of the mainland.

I think the underlying story that is not being told here is that these scam centres, and entire towns, are linked to highly organised crime which could not exist without at the very least, and probably a lot more, the Thai authorities turning a blind eye. Obviously the Taiwanese government is not going to public state that but that is what they are concerned about.
