Borderline Diabetic

Featured Replies

My sugar tests are mostly borderline and have been for decades... always below. This year I'm a tiny bit above. Having said all that my hb1ac is below. I tend to not eat many sweets until I eat a lot of them. I have a good BMI. My cholesterol LDL a bit high, overall is under. Would anyone have any any guidance here?

I'm not a huge consumer of eggs, eat a small loaf of wheat bread a week (sugar), eat half the rice given to me, eat Thai food in food court about 5x a week. Wife cooking at home is healthy mostly. I eat lots of pork, some chicken and beef. I occasionally binge on ice cream.

I believe many of my issues come from not enough cardio and exercise. That much of this like my BP is metastatic.

Thank you

I think you mean genetic, not "metastatic".

If your Hba1c  is consistently below 6  you are not borderline diabetic. The A1c is the best test for this. Fasting blood sugar (which I sssume is what you referred to as sugar tests) can be slightly elevated for many reasons including just the stress of having blood tested.

Reads healthy enough, as pointed out, Hb1Ac seems good, and I wouldn't worry to much about cholesterol.  How's your HDL / Trig ratio ?

BMI normal ... as you say, little more exercise won't never hurt.  How's that BP,  in the 120 / 80 range, and preferable both a bit lower.

HDL all the rest ok. I recall the total was over a tad like by 5. The Dr wasn't concerned

I agree. My issues are discipline to exercise properly (cardio, strength) and I've lower back problems. I'm now on the couch..back is killing me when I bend after only 20 mins mobility exercise today. Didn't stop me from shagging the wife , but otherwise painful.

Yeah, I think it's metastatic and cured entirely with proper exercise

What you listed isn't healthy. 5 times food outside? Most dishes are prepared with sugar plus MSG for good taste. We don't need to mention ice cream or white bread, do we?

If you tell your wife to cook without sugar it would be a plus.

And, well, some exercises will be useful.

That might be helpful🤗

Rice, noodles and bread are all carbs, which contribute to blood sugar. The OP does not say how fruit or what type of fruit he eats, these are carb and sugar sources too.

Blood pressure and pulse rate are the metrics of whether you are getting sufficient exercise.

I would take the advice of "Dr." Cheryl his sugar readings are normal and he doesn't have a problem with diabetes and just carry on with what he's doing and don't stress. What he needs to do is  get his back problems sorted out  so he can continue his bedroom activities.

It sounds like you are doing pretty well... I have been told that blood sugar levels can vary greatly during the ocurse of a day...
