New Coronavirus Raises Concerns, But No Immediate Threat

Featured Replies

The Thai government makes a straightforward statement sharing information.

China has shared information. There is no panic and yet, out of the woodwork come some to claim non existent conspiracies.

A new reason to keep masks on... The company will earn millions as so many people never stopped wearing a mask and now the Government start to promote again... It would be wiser to wear a helmet than a mask on a motorcycle, but that is too smart thinking of me

People have been wearing masks because of the air pollution. I wore a mask for much of high season because the PM counts were in the  serious health injury range. I was literally coughing up and blowing out my nose, black sputum on a couple days. The mask prevented that when I was outdoors.

If there's no evidence indicating a present risk to humans. Why bring this up !! Start a panic again

Transparency. When they don't people complain and claim information is withheld.

'I've begun to notice more Thais wearing masks, as if they're ready for a replay of COVID.  I think it's voluntary, but maybe that's a new rule for some employees?

It is because of the air pollution. Alot of people have been visiting the hospitals because of respiratory distress. This has been reported on.

For the time being, there's been no definitive proof either way as to the origin... just a mainstream opinion of science

The original origin was almost certainly a bat.

The route from bats to humans 1000km away is unclear but that doesn't change where these things live and have existed for 1000s of years. Bats.

There is also something new in Africa. Three kids in central Africa "ate" yes , ate, a bat and died from some illness/virus because of eating it, but then the virus spread and more than 50 others died. It's still being investigated. Reuters reported this yesterday. So on and on it goes.

this is all pretty tame when I recall that this weboard's ancestor(s) click bait was like 20 years ago. It was really nasty in its earlier iterations (a real hatred on Thaksin etc.). Worth keeping in mind that nothing is free, M's cost money and the owner needs to turn a profit. Otherwise it seems all pretty ok to me (even if the headlines don't always match the story 🙂). It's getting a bit nasty in some news/social threads again. Best to just ignore those. They are clearly click bait (by posters), 'Mericans in Pai and Chaing Mai proly.
