It's all about Thailand 4.0

Tracing ever baht and everything anyone ever does.

Since when, Thai bureaucrats are that Hard Working?

Increased workloads, while it is quite fruitless.

Tracing every baht, won't really come with any reward.

Just like 90 day report(while visa extension yields them income;B1900-each time).

Why don't you use the machine outside of the bank that says deposit?

Just for the  peace of my mind.

For unknown reasons, my passbook doesn't work with ATM.

Unable to update at that machine while there are no problems with the bank teller.

Even if deposit comes with ID, won't really trouble me, as I always carry my passport when I go to bank.

A good IT analyst is probably behind this.

Have you noticed how every ATM machine requires Thai citizens to use their ID card for identification, it's the same with automated deposit machines @dinsdale

Banks now need lots more info.  SIM cards have to be linked to a digital ID, Crypto exchanges likewise, has all this crept up on you? or do you think it's coincidence?

Today I went to the bank. I put my card in the ATM. I asked it to give me money. It gave me money. I can do the same by giving it money. It will take my money and put it into an account I tell it to. No ID or passport needed. Oddly enough these details are linked to my ATM card. As for Thais using their "ID cards" what you are seeing is Thais using their blue cards. Guess you haven't been here long.

Don't you know that quite a few Thai ATMs come with passbook updating function(some without it).

Where are you? In Thailand?

You better expand your knowledge before calling a stranger troll or dumb.

I kindly attached some photographic evidence(Thai bank's ATM images).

Look at the middle one.

Can you read what it says?

Passbook Update.

image.png.9c5ad3edc120c61c58cb2a484ef1e9b6.png

Sure. It's called update because it functions as an update. It updates your bankbook with no need to go into the bank. As I said you're either trolling, really, really dumb or haven't been here long. Friendly advice: Best not to take on someone who's been here more than twenty years.

Hi, thank you for some interesting remarks.

At ATM I use, I noticed something(for the past few years).

Displayed notice , No-Card Withdrawal (some sort of cash dispense option without conventional ATM/Debit card)?

Is this the one you are talking about(for Thai national)?

Using Thai ID, instead of bank-issued debit/atm card?

And quite a few cash dispenser come with Update capability as well.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't(with my passbook).

So I stopped using that function.

Instead, I always go to bank teller for deposit and passbook updating.

Always on the spot confirmation of deposit on the bank book.

That is the meaning of Peace of mind.

You go into the bank they will want ID. Same for Thais. ATM obviously no ID required. Just your number. You go into the bank good for you. Possibly a couple of minutes at the ATM and a lot longer inside. BTW why do you need to update your passbook? Do you not have the bank app on your phone?  Deposit ATM's are not difficult. Put in your card and number. Hit deposit. It opens and you put your money in. It counts it. You hit ok. Admittedly sometimes the ATM will reject some notes. Peace of mind for me is not sitting in a bank for a couple of hours waiting to deposit some money. Technology.

Waiting for a while, in an air-conditioned comfort, isn't the issue to me.

As a retiree, time isn't money to me.

Never seen one. Passbook update machines update passbooks. They're not ATM's or deposit machines.

Doesn't dispense or accept deposits. Some ATM's dispense and some dispense and accept deposits. Passbook update machines do neither.

If sitting in a bank for a couple of hours is enjoying every second of life then fair enough. Not my idea of enjoying life that's for sure. Pretty much the other end of the scale.

Which bank?

Mine got quite a few.

Looks like 3-4 types:

Cash dispensing only.

Deposit/Withdrawal and passbook filling.

Updating only.

My bank's symbol color is purple.

No money coming out of this. It's a passbook update machine. It updates your passbook.

You need id to deposit cash machine or tellor. Not so new requlations

Not using deposit often.

But until then it was good enough to put the bank card into the slot and type the pin as "identification". Deposit to own account of course.

No id, no card, other person's account: different matter

Too long ago to comment on cash deposit at the teller.

Some people are not able to update the bank book at the machine?

For book update at the teller no I'd requested.

Wonder whether they can dress themselves😳

I have internet banking for all accounts and do know what's going on whenever I want.

Kasikorn beeps at me for every transaction whatsoever.

Bangkok Bank and SCB on major transactions.

My piece of mind: checking all accounts before breakfast 😁

All in one machines, unfortunately still rare (at least at Bangkok Bank).

Many cash deposit machines also work as ATM.

People are so dismissive and try to act smartass wjen things do not affect them.

Like when I posted that grab food required me to take a selfie before accepting my delivery. Or when other posters mentioned their shopee wallets suddenly became inactive.

Changes are coming.

Can you share the bank name?

When did you first notice this change?

There has been a crackdown, particularly on foreign-owned accounts which may be "mule" accounts. So various banks have implemented new procedures re: "Know Your Customer".

https://thainews.prd.go.th/nbtworld/news/view/886333/?bid=1

Currently many banks require that phone number name matches account name, that the current passport is scanned and on record, that a separate photo is made and on record, and that a facial scan is made and on record.

I'd suggest you stop by the Bank/Branch's customer service department and verify that all documentary requirements are satisfied.

Came across this all singing, all dancing one in Vietnam, more slots than the penny arcade.

No English whatsoever, took a bit of time to get some money out.

Hello, ladies and gentlemen,

I would like to share my experience with the bank I deal with.

Yesterday, the teller advised me that it is now necessary for a customer to show Identification document for cash deposit as well.

ID is always needed to:

Open/close an account.

Fund withdrawal/Term Deposit rollover.

But previously, ID was never requested for deposit.

Has anyone else got same experience with me?

Yes. I've just made a deposit to get back to the 800k , and they (krungsri) wanted my passport.

Weird because a while ago they didn't even asked it for a withdraw.

They look in the passport and type something in their computer , probably passport number.

Another reason to avoid banks.  Hope to cut it down to 3 visits a year , one to top up to 800k, one to get the papers for extention,

then take everything out to just over 400k.
