Trump Sues Wall Street Journal Over Epstein Birthday Letter Claim
Picture courtesy of Atlanta Black Star In a dramatic move, former President Donald Trump has filed a libel lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal and its reporters regarding a controversial article. The piece claims Trump was among the individuals who wrote letters to Jeffrey Epstein for his 50th birthday in 2003, with one mentioning an outline of a naked woman. Filed in South Florida’s federal court, the lawsuit accuses the Wall Street Journal of libel, assault, and slander. While details are sparse, Trump has firmly denied writing the letter, and no lawsuit copy was included in the court docket. Trump immediately threatened the story's authors, Khadeeja Safdar and Joe Palazzolo, with legal action. In a post on Truth Social, Trump claims Rupert Murdoch, the owner of News Corp, which owns the Journal, was personally warned about the letter’s alleged fabrications. Murdoch reportedly assured Trump that he would resolve the issue, but according to the lawsuit, such assurances proved ineffective. CNN is seeking a response from the Wall Street Journal regarding the allegations. Epstein's connections, including his interactions with Trump, have faced growing public interest. Despite Epstein's death in 2019 being ruled a suicide, questions and conspiracy theories persist, with Trump expressing a willingness to disclose further details if elected in 2024. A recent Justice Department memo denied the existence of a so-called "client list" linked to Epstein’s alleged crimes, a point that has frustrated Trump’s supporters and stirred division within his political base. Such revelations continue to underscore the complexity of Epstein’s legacy and the controversies surrounding those who knew him. Adapted by ASEAN Now from CNN 2025-07-19 -

Crime CIB Raids Warehouse Selling Illegal Mosquito Repellents Without Thai Labels or FDA Approval
Picture courtesy of Amarin. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has conducted a raid on a warehouse in Samut Sakhon, uncovering thousands of boxes of illegally imported mosquito repellents. The products, lacking Thai labelling and approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), were allegedly being sold online, posing serious health risks to consumers. The operation, led by the Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECD), was ordered by Police Lieutenant General Jiraphop Bhuridej, Commissioner of the CIB. Acting under his command, officers from Subdivision 2 of the ECD, including senior officers Pol. Maj. Gen. Tadsapoom Charuprat, Pol. Col. Naruephon Karuna, and Pol. Lt. Col. Wanpadej Janyarom , coordinated the raid on a commercial building in Moo 2, Om Noi Subdistrict, Krathum Baen District. Authorities arrested a 19-year-old man, identified only as Mr. Kantitat, for allegedly being in possession of goods that had not passed through customs procedures, a violation under The Customs Act. He reportedly confessed to the charges during initial questioning. Officers seized over 2,400 boxes of mosquito repellent products as evidence, including: • 600 boxes of the “Laojun” brand, featuring an image of a baby • 1,200 boxes of a red-packaged brand bearing a tiger logo • 600 boxes of the “Goldeer” brand, marked with a deer emblem The investigation began after officers noticed a surge in illegal mosquito repellent sales via social media platforms and e-commerce sites. Most products originated from China and were sold at significantly lower prices than legitimate brands. Authorities grew concerned about the potential health hazards these unapproved repellents might pose, particularly as they lack FDA certification and safety labelling in Thai. Surveillance and digital tracking revealed that the illegal stock was being distributed from a commercial premises in Samut Sakhon. With a warrant issued by the provincial court, officers raided the site and discovered the stockpile, all packaged in Chinese, with no import documentation or evidence of customs duties paid. The suspect was taken into custody, and the confiscated goods were handed over to investigators from Subdivision 2 for legal proceedings. Police say they will continue expanding the investigation to identify additional individuals or networks connected to the illicit trade. Authorities urge consumers to remain cautious when purchasing health-related products online and to ensure all items carry proper Thai-language labelling and FDA approval. Crime Chinese Fugitive Caught with Fake Passports & Thai Driver’s Licences in Bangkok
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A Chinese national wanted for multiple offences in his home country has been arrested in Bangkok after being found in possession of several fake passports and Thai driver’s licences, according to immigration officials. The suspect, identified as Mr Wang Ming 40, was detained during a police operation in the Soi Vibhavadi 4–8 area of the capital on the 17 July. The arrest was part of an ongoing crackdown on foreign criminals illegally residing in Thailand, led by Police Lieutenant General Panumas Boonyalak, Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau. Acting on intelligence reports, officers from Immigration Division 1 intercepted a grey Nissan Almera with heavily tinted windows at approximately 16:00. The driver presented a passport which did not match his appearance, prompting a search of the vehicle. Officers discovered multiple falsified documents, including fake Thai and international driver’s licences, as well as counterfeit passports. Mr Wang denied ownership of the documents, but was immediately charged with illegal entry and residence under The Immigration Act. Further investigation revealed that Mr Wang is wanted by Chinese authorities for a range of serious offences, including forging national ID cards, passports and driving licences, operating illegal gambling businesses and defying court orders. He was taken into custody for legal processing, and authorities are now working to verify the authenticity of five Thai driver’s licences found in his possession. Officials have confirmed that the investigation is being expanded to determine whether Mr Wang has links to a broader transnational criminal network operating within Thailand.
