A transgender woman was found brutally murdered near a reservoir in Rayong, with her throat slit and wooden stick lodged up her nostrils. Authorities are urgently investigating the case in an effort to track down the perpetrator.

At approximately 08:00 on 14 March, Lieutenant Wisitchai Duangart, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) of Pluak Daeng Police Station, was notified of the discovery of a body near the roadside by the Nong Pla Lai Reservoir in Moo 2, Pluak Daeng District. He coordinated with medical personnel from Pluak Daeng Hospital, local rescue teams, and the police investigation unit before proceeding to the crime scene.

Upon arrival, officers found the deceased lying on the roadside in a quiet remote area. Disturbingly, both nostrils had been pierced with a wooden stick pushed up them, and a piece of cloth had been stuffed into the mouth. The victim’s bra had been pulled up, and a deep slash wound was visible across the throat.

Multiple stab wounds were found on the torso. Investigators estimated that the victim had been dead for at least five hours. A 4-inch kitchen knife was discovered nearby and collected as evidence. The body was sent for autopsy at Pluak Daeng Hospital.

The victim was later identified as Wichai Unruan, 51, a transgender woman and a homeless individual who had been living near a school opposite Wat Krabok Khuen Phueng in Ban Khai District, Rayong.

Police in Rayong have arrested a 36-year-old woman in connection with the brutal murder of a 51-year-old man, whose body was discovered near the Nong Plalai reservoir in Pluak Daeng district.

The victim, identified as Wichai Unruan, was found with his throat slit and a wooden object forcibly inserted into his nasal cavity. Investigators determined that Wichai was a scrap collector known for dressing in women’s clothing. He had been residing in an abandoned school opposite Wat Krabok Khuen Phueng in Ban Khai district.

Police intensified their investigation after speaking with a close friend of the deceased, who revealed that Wichai had been seen leaving a local community, traditional dance event with a woman. CCTV footage was reviewed along the route from the event to the location where the body was found.

Following the lead, officers from Pluak Daeng Police Station and Ban Khai Police Station detained a woman, identified as Malinee, in Ban Khai district. She was taken to Pluak Daeng Police Station for further questioning, at 15:30 on 14 March.

Witnesses confirmed that Wichai was last seen with her. However, as she was led from the police vehicle, Malinee refused to respond to any questions from reporters.

A friend of the victim, who had come to the police station to provide further details, stated: “The last time I saw him, he was with Malinee. I don’t know what happened between them that led to this.”

Authorities continue their investigation to determine the motive behind the killing and whether any additional suspects were involved.

What on earth could have led the killer to commit such a vicious and brutal murder ? By all accounts the victim was poor, harmless and led a quiet life.
