Have you ever had a near-death experience (NDE)?
That was definitely a close call, and your brain seems to have gone into full cinematic mode with the time dilation and life-flash effect. It’s a well-documented response to extreme situations. What was previously discussed, though, is that ‘near-death experience’ (NDE) in the strictest sense usually refers to cases involving clinical death—like OBEs during cardiac arrest. Your experience was undoubtedly intense, but it falls more into the category of a high-adrenaline survival response rather than the classic medical NDE. IMHO -

Smelly Expat Skips Massage Bill, Sparks Local Chaos in Lampang
I like the way the reporter uses the term pungent. Its such a wonderful word. Brings up thoughts of Icelandic Dried Shark or Plah Rah left out to long. -

Ah Pattaya, where self appointed experts go to continue their grand delusion.
Any one who does visit beer bars has no doubt had someone sit beside him that after less than five minutes you are ready to slice your wrist to get away from him...either incredibly stupid, ignorant, arrogant, or maybe all of the above or in some cases you actually do run into a few guys who are very pleasant to sit and talk with and can even learn a few new things or at least share some stories. The trick is to learn to get up and leave asap when u get the idiot types that sit next to you. Generally they will not get any more pleasant after having a few more beers. I can chug a beer very quickly when i suddenly remember that i have to be somewhere. Every ass sitting on every bar stool likely has a lot of stories...it is not required that you listen to them. But there are some gems scattered through all the gravel that indeed are very interesting guys to have a chat with for an hour or two. -

US Charles Schwab Residency?
I must have asked that somewhere along the line, but I don't recall at the moment..... Fidelity does have beneficiaries, and the DIY Thai will should be acceptable, but additional work is required. If a US-based lawyer isn't handling probate, then the wife must do a final tax return and apply for a tax clearance certificate, which can take up to a year for the IRS to produce. As for Schwab, my account is mainly to pass gifts through to the wife, so shouldn't have much in the way of assets. My notes will have PW and ID, so she could simply use the standing order to transfer any cash to her account. She can either send a SWIFT from her account or we link to a Wise account for her. I haven't considered I might outlast, but I suppose I must prepare for that eventuality, as well.
