The only occasion I like about Sharia Laws (penal code in Islamic fundamentalist nations).

A thief gets  the  right hand chopped off(for the first time offence).

“To the two men who stole from Sprout, we have reported you to the police. You still have the chance to return what you took or pay for it before facing legal consequences.

“It is shameful that you entered our space, our home, and acted so dishonestly. We work hard to create something meaningful, and your actions are deeply disappointing and unacceptable.

“If anyone recognises these two individuals or knows where they are staying, please inform us. They must return what they stole before the situation escalates. This is their final opportunity to do the right thing.”

Very kind of her to make such an offer.  It's a shame that they don't seem to have taken her up on her offer.

Wrong. You obviously don't understand what it cost to run a business.  This isn't person theft its theft fron a business

You are totally and blatantly wrong. You cannot calculate the loss based on the retail price, as it includes the potential profit. They don't sell things just to cover the costs, they sell things to make a profit, meaning to get more money than they spent.

Not sure what you saying as you flip flop in your explanation.

I am a business owner.  Its correct you include profit as a cost of doing business as  you have to invest money to buy and hold product to pay for fixed and operating cost of the business. With the loss of inventory like this new product will be required to replace missing product.

She lost much less, as you should take the manufacturing cost, not the retail price

If I buy some crap for 100 baht and put it on sale for 2000 baht and you steal it from me, how much do I lose?

@Dan O What do you think?

It takes a real sick mind and a bankrupt soul to visit a foreign country like Thailand, and rip off the local stores. Either these goons are incredibly desperate, incredibly stupid, or just doing it for sport. Regardless, they should be punished and the punishment should be such that they never forget it for the rest of their lives, and never consider doing something so incredibly stupid again.

I have some suggestions but they're probably not fit for these pages.

Wrong. To replace the lost item would cost just 100 baht.

You would have received 2000 Baht had the item been paid for , so you would have lost that 2000 Baht as payment wasn't made

Exactly, and the new product for them would cost much less than the retail price that they sell it at.

How do you know if someone would even buy it at this price? The crap cost 100 baht, and that's the amount that they lost.

The shop owners response is pathetic calls the police to take action

Then says if they return or pay for the goods he wil not take action against them

They should both be jailed and deported

A message needs to be sent out

Stealing does not pay

In the UK employers instruct their shopworkers not to tackle shoplifters, mainly for their own safety.
