What are the odds Thailand would ban US tourists in response? Has this ever happened? I have no interest in debating geopolitical affairs and focus on trying to get along with people in my neighborhood here in Bangkok. But this flare up has me wondering if they'd ever try to boot Americans out of Thailand? My wife and I (US citizens) have Thailand Privilege visas. We visit the USA every few years but if I had to choose one country to live the rest of my days it would probably be Thailand.

Being geographically knowledgeable, Thailand sent Chinese nationals back to China. This is not like sending Venezuelans to a completely different country like El Salvador.

There have been other groups of Uyghurs that have been transferred to China from Thailand, not just this one group. What happened to them? Forced disappearance - is this something Thai police are familiar with? Of course China will put on a good show for the visiting officials or justify the predictaments of the Uyghurs.

 

Thais were 2 faced in the second world war. Thailand help Japan until it became evident that Japan was going to lose then they hooked-up with USA. Thais seem to be 2 faced now too - telling USA they are following US policy of freedom and democracy and telling China we the rich people of Thailand, are the dictators, just like in China and agree with your policy of persecuting Uyghurs. Thai politicians do anything to make themselves and their friends wealthier.

Well, now you have it from the horse's mouth - the "prima-inter-pares" with the standard reply which I've been graciously listening to; still worded as "There's no confirmation yet. I still don't know."

The underlying issue is the absolute absence of character and spine of this as well as many other governments before. Once Beijing whistles, it is "The Pied Piper of Hamelin" all over again. 

What a farçe all this is, nobody has had the guts to stand up for Thailand and state, that as a sovereign state Thailand will make its own decisions rather than collecting instructions - ongoingly - from the lovely red brethren in the North. Shame on all of those involved. 

In closing, thank you tax payer (i.e. I am one of them) for allowing yet another splurging school excursion of the divine government representatives to China which just underlines the impotence of all those goons and geeks!
