A Chinese tourist has died after being found unresponsive in a hotel swimming pool in Phuket on August 17. Police are investigating the death and have sent his body for a forensic examination. The man, identified as 44-year-old Ye, had been staying at the hotel with his family after they checked in on August 16. Their booking was due to run until August 22. Daughter raised the alarm Ye entered the hotel's swimming pool, which was about two metres deep, when his daughter noticed him motionless in the water. She called for help and foreign swimmers who were nearby went to assist him. They pulled Ye to the edge of the pool and began CPR while an ambulance was called. He was then taken to Patong Hospital for further treatment. Doctors later reported that Ye died at about 11.30am that day. The hospital informed Patong Police Station, whose officers subsequently went to both the hospital and the hotel as part of their investigation. Autopsy will determine cause of death Police transferred Ye's body to the forensic department at Vajira Phuket Hospital for an autopsy, in line with legal procedures. Officers also examined the hotel, took photographs of the scene and gathered relevant information. The cause of death remains subject to the forensic examination.
