I am looking for group cover for a school for employees and students. Is this something medical companies offer? I know they offer it for staff but not sure if you can also get group cover for students (besides accident insurance).

Thanks in advance.

I don't think many schools provide medical insurance for students. The cost would be significant and would likely overlap with cover that at least some children would have through their parents' employment.

As you mention, personal accident cover is sometimes subscribed by schools to address medical costs arising from students' activities on schools grounds or on school trips.

Some schools have third party liability insurance to protect their legal liability for bodily injury occurring to the students on the school's property. This would provide protection above the no-fault personal accident cover and could carry more substantial limits of liability in order to address potential catastrophic accidents.

Personal accident and third party liability insurance policies are available from non-life insurers in Thailand.

Personal accident insurance for students and third-party liability I can get everywhere. I am looking for health insurance for students at a school as well as staff. Maybe it's not possible currently but some underwriter could create a bespoke one for us.

As long as the students and teachers meet the definition of a group as per the insurer's underwriting guidelines, I don't see why a such a plan could not be put together.

Have you already approached insurers and been turned down?

In any case, I'd recommend using an insurance broker to help you with this.

Some insurers said they didn't offer it so yes I have approached others but also looking on TV here to see if anyone else has any knowledge as an insurance expert or as a client.

What is it that the insurers said they don't offer? Cover specifically for students or medical cover in general?

Not all non-life insurers offer medical insurance, and life insurers may not be keen to offer group cover for minors. Did you approach any medical insurers with your request?

Yes, at the university level this is more common.

But even Mahidol relies on a government scheme for Thai students. https://muic.mahidol.ac.th/eng/student-life/student-services/health-service/

I guess I should not have assumed that the OP was referring to primary/secondary school where school-provided medical insurance is rare.
