Gang Targets Irish Man in Krabi: Wife Left Terrified After Late-Night Raid
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A Thai woman has spoken of her terror after a group of five unidentified men stormed into her cannabis shop in Krabi and attempted to attack her Irish husband. The dramatic incident, which occurred just before midnight on the night of 11 April, saw the foreign man flee through the back of the premises, sustaining a wound to his knee in the process. The victim’s wife, 22-year-old Nalin Hinghoydee, stated she believes the attack may be linked to a financial dispute involving a foreign man who had previously borrowed money from her 25-year-old husband during their time living in Pattaya and refused to repay the debt. The couple relocated to Krabi seven months ago and had not heard from the alleged debtor until he suddenly made contact via a video call, brandishing a firearm and issuing threats. The raid took place at the couple’s cannabis shop in Moo 5, Sai Thai Subdistrict, Muang District, Krabi Province. CCTV footage from inside the shop shows a pickup truck pulling up outside, before five men jump out and rush towards the shop. The Irish shop owner, who was talking to two customers, was seen fleeing out the back as the men gave chase. Three of the intruders returned to the front of the shop shortly after, while two continued pursuing him through the rear of the premises. Ms. Nalin tried to confront the group but said they refused to explain themselves before leaving the scene. Her husband later returned, injured, having sustained a 10cm wound to his right knee while escaping the attackers. Ms. Nalin initially attempted to file a police report at Ao Nang Police Station, just a kilometre from the shop, but was redirected to Muang Krabi Police Station due to jurisdictional boundaries. Frustrated and unsure of how to proceed, the couple shared the video clip online, fearing the men involved could have been officials and hoping to raise public awareness of the attack. She has since filed a formal complaint with Muang Krabi Police Station and is urging authorities to investigate the incident. “If no action is taken, we will continue to live in fear,” she said. -- 2025-04-13 -

Trump spares smartphones, computers, other electronics from China tariffs
WASHINGTON/WEST PALM BEACH, Florida, April 12 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump's administration granted exclusions from steep reciprocal tariffs to smartphones, computers and some other electronics imported largely from China, providing a big break to tech companies like Apple that rely on imported products. The U.S. CBP listed 20 product categories, including the broad 8471 code for all computers, laptops, disc drives and automatic data processing. It also included semiconductor devices, equipment, memory chips and flat panel displays.
