Their silence is deafening when the regular atrocities are committed against Christians. Not a single word of condemnation when Muslims, such as in Nigeria, Syria, etc slaughter Christians.

And they get all upset and in a tizzy about a funny sketch. Yes, very entitled people who in fact despise every other single religion and even Islamic sects that differ from their own view.

Is it ok if I can be offended by having to eat halal food that seems to be on so many food items these days?

Can I get an apology? Maybe compensation for the extra cost of having it halal certified?

I hope his cooking is a better standard than his education.

Legal action? You can sue someone for anything in the States, but it's awfully hard to do that here in Thailand.

Was it in "poor taste" (pun intended)? Yes. But legal action? Preposterous.

What!  A Thai guy wearing a dish-dash?  We'll see men wearing dresses next!  Outrageous!

Just pork. Get over it.

Israel is the largest pork producer in the middle east followed by Lebanon and Bahrain. Turkey is a  major supplier of pork products in the region. The UAE has the largest consumption of Pork. So, the  self appointed  guardians of propriety in Thailand can go get stuffed.

are they saying that there laws are above Thi laws or is this just a little bit of an attempt for more control

I'm not often in agreement with Muslim custom but I think that refraining from eating pork is probably one of the smartest rituals they have. Why would you want to eat any animal that feasts on its own feces?

Religion and Islam in particular is full of it anyway. And ..

"Hamsters, guinea pigs, chinchillas, hedgehogs, and pigs eat their own droppings, which are thought to be a source of vitamins B and K, produced by gut bacteria."
Are you suggesting it may be harmful to the consumer to eat pork. What is the rationale..?

So what in Satans Name did he do Wrong.   Nothing. 😇

No, not all Arabs are Muslims, nor do all Arabs avoid eating pork. While a majority of Arabs are Muslim, there are significant Christian and Jewish populations in the Arab world, and some Muslims do not strictly adhere to all dietary restrictions, according to a 2016 Pew Research Center report. Pork consumption is forbidden in Islam, but this prohibition is not universally followed within the Muslim community, and some Arab Christians do not follow Jewish or Islamic dietary laws.

Nothing beats a great mixed salad... With a great big rare steak next to it

I love Uncle Tony.  PC has to go.  Bring comedy back.  Wow.  The province of Porkabun in the news.  Amazing Thailand.  Once upon a time there was a very famous place behind the pig house in Muang Petchabun.  A busy place for local and other provincial tourists.

Tell you what spider, if you buy all my meat products from now on I'll give up eating pork. Until then, I'll scoff as many bacon butties as I like. Don't cows, sheep, goats etc eat grass fertilised by animal (pigs included) or even human feces?

What is the problem here??? What about all the Muslims coming here drinking alcohol riding bikes like aholes, using prostitutes eating pork and basically doing what ever they want isn't this double standards if those people are so devoted to their BS religion then let them travel to similar countries that believe in that crap don't come here.

Just back from Dubai where pork can only be bought in special shops or parts of a supermarket. It is rarely on the menu in most restaurants.

The regulations for the sale of Pork in the UAE  is no different in concept, nor practice than the sale of Cannabis in Thailand and many other countries, except it is available in international hotels, supermarkets and in restaurants.  This week Casinetto  is having a big sale.  UAE is  reportedly 92% foreigners, with 500,000 Europeans, many of whom stuff their faces with pork products.

Sounds a bit like Pattaya or Patong  at Christmas/New Year's.

I believe it is one group who think they are  special. As I recall from  my time in Phuket, Thai muslims were generally laid back and low key. They drank and did other thinks non muslims did, with the exception that they avoided pork. No one really cared if someone  ate pork.  One of my friends avoided it for health reasons, not religious because he was worried about nitrates/nitrites and their link to colon cancer. He was way ahead of the health curve.

Thai social media influencer “Uncle Tony” is facing backlash and possible legal action after posting a promotional video for his restaurant, in which he appeared wearing traditional Arab attire while preparing and encouraging the consumption of roasted pork, a dish prohibited in Islam.

The video, originally shared on the influencer’s popular Facebook page “Uncle Tony’s Kitchen,” quickly drew heavy criticism from the public, particularly from the Muslim community, for its perceived insensitivity. The post featured Uncle Tony dressed in a thobe (a long robe commonly worn by Arab men) as he prepared the dish and invited viewers to try it at his restaurant.

The situation escalated when the official Facebook page of the Islamic Committee Office of Phetchabun Province announced that it had received numerous complaints about the video. The committee confirmed it is currently gathering evidence to file a formal complaint against the influencer for actions deemed offensive and disrespectful to Islamic beliefs.

In a public statement, the committee said:

“We would like to inform our Muslim brothers and sisters who have expressed concern. The Islamic Committee Office of Phetchabun has been made aware of the situation involving the Facebook page ‘Uncle Tony’s Kitchen.’ We are in the process of collecting evidence to pursue legal action in accordance with the law.”

Uncle Tony has since removed the video and issued a public apology, acknowledging the sensitivity of the issue and expressing regret for any offence caused. However, the Islamic committee appears determined to proceed with legal measures, insisting the matter is too serious to be resolved with an apology alone.

The case highlights the importance of cultural and religious sensitivity in online content, especially in a diverse society where such issues can provoke strong emotional responses. Legal experts suggest that Uncle Tony could face charges under Thai laws related to public offence or religious defamation, depending on the outcome of the investigation.

The story continues to unfold as authorities assess the legal implications and the influencer’s intent behind the controversial content.

Armhole.

Some people feel also offended by loud prayer towers.

I’m with the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. If our preacher blasted ‘Tomato Sauce Hardcore’—our sacred speed metal anthem—from the prayer towers, people wouldn’t dig that either.

Uncle Tony is the Thailand we love, not aware of offending others is just a part of life here. If you don't like it you're better off moving to an Islamic state like Indonesia.

Much rather eat shellfish that eats human shiit.

Will I get arrested if I cook in my Lederhosen?

Influencers are the most stupids off all. But i say incorrect: those who believe them or nor having any brain at all

I had a restaurant who served everybody. The fidel followers of the faith had the choice of either following their faith and whatever rules their imaginary friend (like all other religions, by the way) would allow/forbid.

Others drank red wines, feasted on pork; same with the Kosher crown which came for shellfish. They had understood, that even Thailand had been inching its way to the 20th century with refrigeration and were educated to know the difference between a glass and and entire case of beer, wines or firewater.

If a "fidel" thing in the attire of a Christian or Buddhist, would do something the moslems allow but Christianity prohibits (i.e. four wives) it would be considered possibly as bad taste but I cannot see the Pope going over the moon (as it happens anyway).
