Type O marriage visa from 30 day extension on visa exempt? Plus, what is the process?

Hi, does anyone know if it is possible to convert a 30 day extension (off of a 60 day visa exempt) to a type O marriage visa?  What would the process and neccessary documentation be?  Many thanks.

Thanks for your reply Jack.  Can I just print out a bank statement showing last 3 months?  Or do I need something else in particular from a branch (re your mention of no scb branch at CW)?

For the Non O marriage you only require the 400k in bank on day of application. 

You would provide your bank  book and photocopies of info page + transaction pages.

You need a "bank letter" ...that confirms you are owner of the account and balance. 100b.

Note that can be obtained in days prior to application.

 

Recommended at CW is updated bank book on day of application.

I prefer to just make small deposit 100b.

This updates + shows activity on day of application. 

 

For the 12 month extension I suggest a 3 month bank statement (200b)

Thanks.  I use kasikorn.  I have SCB as well, but was planning on using Kasikorn for the visa.  

Ah, so a bank statement from my K bank application wont do then?   I guess this doesnt update immediatly-takes a day or so I think.  

 

I havent used a passbook for quite some time, guess I will have to update on day of application (with a deposit or withdrawal on day of application) then print all pages.  

Can I get the "bank letter" from any branch?  

 

Also, would you know if a bank statement downloaded from a mobile bank app would be accepted for the 12 month extension (free of charge those are and quite detailed - for K bank at least).

No.  Obtain bank statement from Kasikorn bank day or two prior.

Immigration will not accept online printed statements.

They must be issued by the bank who will stamp, date and sign it.  (Certified by a bank official)

You say from the 30-day extension, which makes me believe you're running low on time.  You must have 14-21 days left on your stamp in order to apply.  This is because you will have an under consideration period where you will get a stamp in your passport telling you to return to get the visa.  Each immigration office has a different period of time, so that's why I said 14-21 days.  But you can't wait until the last minute to apply. Just want to make sure you are aware.

Thank you.  I'm still on my 60 day visa exempt but will have to apply during the extension due to the wait for an amphur and marriage certificate.  I read elsewhere 14 days were needed.  Is it 14 to 21?  Hope I can manage.

You need at least 15 days permission of stay remaining to process a Non Imm O application.
Certain Immigration offices require 23 days.

You can apply for a 30-day extension to your VE entry and a further 60 day extension for visiting Thai spouse.

On another note, speaking of amphurs..... can I get a Non O marriage visa in CW if I was married in a different part of Thailand?   For example: marriage certificate will be from Ko Chang, but we reside in Bangkok.  Many thanks

Any bank statement for immigration purposes must be obtained from bank.

Not from printout from banking app etc.

Statement can be obtained days prior to attending for application.

I only mentioned SCB as that bank no longer has a branch at CW.

Immigration at CW prefer/insist on update in day of application.

For guys with SCB they need to visit bank prior to going to CW.

Previously that was also my MO, however in more recent times the bank can be quite busy for the "letter" etc, whereas the teller for deposit/withdrawal is in the main zero queue 

I now prefer to obtain the 12 month bank statement and letter day or two prior. 

No issue with this at CW and nor should there be. Those items can be up to 7 days prior to application

Sorry to bother again.  Concerning bank documentation, must I have:
1. the letter
2. updated bankbook and copies
3. Bank statement for prior 12 months

For the initial application?  Or do I present - 3. Bank statement for prior 12 months, when I return after 90 days for the extension? 

I will probably get the statement anyway just to be safe but the earlier statement,

"Bank statement is fine, however has nothing to do with update.

Break it down: 

Step 1....you are obtaining a Non O based on marriage. 

400k required in bank on day of application. Also "bank letter".

You do not require bank statement. 

 

Step 2.....This is when you apply for 12 months extension of the 90 day stamp you obtained when you applied for the Non O.

For this you require bank letter + 3 month bank statement showing all transactions for past 3 months.

The immigration officer will check that the balance was 400k + for the two months prior to application. 

You best off to make small deposit on day of application. This updates bb and shows activity. Ask teller to photocopy this last page showing balance and transaction. 

 

You apply for the non O with min 15 days remaining on your permission of stay.

For the extension you can apply up till expiry of stamp however that's unwise.

Thanks, I am assuming I need a new bank letter for step 2 , correct?  Also, is it a 3 month statement correct?  I saw earlier mention of a 12 month bank statement.

Yes. Bank letter and statement can be up to 7 days old.

I like to obtain the day prior.

You'll require the same documentation for both steps, the only difference being for the Non O application the 400K is only required to be in the bank on the day of submitting the application, whereas for step 2, applying for the 1-year extension the 400K must have been deposited for 2 months prior to the date of submitting the application.

Standard to request a 3 month statement for step 2, which can be issued on the day from the branch.

 

For subsequent further extension applications, the 400K funds only need to be in the bank account for 2 months prior to the date of submission.

12 month statements are only required for extensions based on retirement, not Thai spouse.

Hi all,  I've just read in another thread that a witness is required for an extension?  It was at Samut Prakan I believe.  

Will I need a witness for the application for visa/ or for the extension at CW?  

I've never heard of this before.  I had the witnesses for the actual marriage, but this is the first I've heard of needing a witness for the visa process.

Also, do I need a hand drawn map (for CW)?  I've printed out a copy of google map to our condo in BKK, but I've read some people needing a hand drawn map?

CW does ask for hand drawn map.

It does not need to be entire route from condo to immigration.

Just from condo to main intersection.

They are not too fussy about the map.

You should not require a witness at CW.

I'm 17 days from the end of my last 1-year extension, and was planning to go to CW a few days before it expires. Am I screwed?

No you're fine. The 15 days is for the initial non O, no such limit for your extension.
