When the international private Elementary School does not issue ED Visa paperwork, what do parents do?

Apply for guardian visa and dependent for child?

Retirement visa and dependent if possible, not sure

DTV and child on DTV dependent afterwards if granted

or better options?

What is the best option, in terms of amount of paperwork, acceptance at borders later, hassle when extending, cost, ....

Any parents here who can share experiences?

Searched the forum but was not successful. Thank you

So, the absolute simplest is going to be to do nothing.  There is no overstay fine for children under 15, and no banning for children under 18.  So you bring them in visa exempt and let them go on overstay.  There are some schools that will only let children attend if they are on a valid visa/extension though.

I would say the next best option would be DTV and dependent DTV. Right now there is no paperwork required after the initial application and you will just have to do border bounces for 5 years.

The most permanent solution would be the retirement visa and dependent though.

In another thread you mention that you currently have a DTV.

Seems your issue is with the school.

The child should be able to hop onto your DVT so to speak.

Think you will find that what is pointed out in first post, regarding school requiring student to have a valid permission of stay in place in order to be enrolled.

Schools tighten ED visa, now its not one year extension its only till end of term depending on school. So when potentially opting for a school that does not grant / sponsor (sorry English not my mothertongue)  ED for next term, we have to find new solution.

Applying for dependent DTV with separate 500.000 in account seems a good option.

Do you know where currently are good places, Hanoi would be ideal (direct short flight).

Good idea to go to same embassy I got mine approved or different one, or no difference?

Not really up to date now which are the best places where to apply, have to read up on it and update myself.

In DTV thread here searching for "child, children" only found issues referring to Thai child.

Thank you DrJack54 for being always so kind and helpful with your advice!

I was under the impression extension is granted for one year too, not necessarily it seems, some schools seem to tighten policy and only grant till end of term regardless when you applied for ED, so good idea to do at beginning of school year.

Right now, watching the development on visa policy I would not discard that retroactively there might be consequences.... but that is just my personal thinking, NOT saying there are rumors, etc....
