Anybody got one recently?

How much did you pay?

Any recommandation other than the most expensive places (Bangkok Hospital, Ram Hospital etc)?

I asked 3 hospitals and they all give you a total anesthesia (a short one btw) for the price of 15-18,000 baht.

Do you know any place you can get only a local anesthesia? There's no need of a total one in my opinion and it costs more as well.

Cheers

Had a gastroscopy and colonoscopy in a public hospital in Sisaket province for 7000. They actually tried to sedate me a little but it didn't knock me out. The procedures weren't a problem.

It is not "total anesthesia" anywhere, it is short acting IV sedation and does not add that much to the cost. Much recommended, but suit yourself.

Anyplace can give you only a spray local anesthetic if you ask, but it is going to be quite unpleasant and probably save just a couple thousand baht.

Dr. Jeerasak Intarukka has been recommended by many people and can be seen at McCormack hospital  https://www.mccormickhospital.com/eregis/?i=finder

They have a 15k package until the end of the year, not clear if it includes IV sedation but at that price, probably not.

Thank you. I forgot there was a hospital over there. Is it as busy as the Sisaket Gov. hospital?

From the times I've been to both, Sisaket seems to be more busy. It does get crowded but some days are a lot busier than others.

What does this have to do with the post title (Chiang Mai)?

It relates to  Gastroscopy but not to Chiang Mai.

Your question re CM has already been answered. If you cannot afford privste hospital  (15k is an excellent price these days for that) then you should use a government hospital. Sriphat, Maharaj  Nakorn or Nakorn Ping. There will be red tape and long waits, but (if doctor agrees procedure is necessary)  cost will be much less especially at the second two places. Bring a Thai speaker with you to hrlp navigate the system, and expect it to take several visits to arrange: you will not be able to get into or arrange anything by phone or online, have to go in person.

It relates to  Gastroscopy but not to Chiang Mai ---> exactly

If you cannot afford privste hospital ---> did I say that?

15k is an excellent price these days for that ---> I disagree, private hospital in Europe I paid equivalent of 6000 bht  with local sedation.

Have a nice day

It is an excellent price for private hospitals in Thailand today, relative to what they usually charge.
