Of course, the reason that all these billions are being donated to the political parties is that the conservatives on the Supreme Court ruled that giving money is just a form of free speech and should be protected. I don't have access to YouTube from here, but you should watch the OMG videos where they ask "donors" if they really did donate 1000 times, totaling tens of thousands of dollars.  The answer is usually something along the lines of "well, I did donate $15 once", while FOIA'ed documents from ActBlue show a thousand separate donations from a single address.  Often an address with no building.
