TTB Bank now offers a virtual passbook as an alternative to the usual paper version.  This would seem to be convenient - especially as my current passbook is full so I'm going to have to get a new one before doing my extension of stay in July.  I can obviously call into the bank for this but I'm not very mobile and going into Pattaya town is a bit of a PITA.  So, I'm wondering if Immigration will accept a printout of the virtual passbook in lieu of the 'real' thing.  My experience has been that they need a copy of the updated book - ideally on the day of submitting the extension application - but also keep the actual book until the application is approved.

I suspect that just trying to use the virtual book will not be acceptable but has anyone tried this?  I deal with the TTB branch on Pattaya 2nd Road.

I don't update my passbook until immigration want to see it.

I present passbook with today's entry and almost no transactions

6 month bank statement

Bank letter

Statement and letter required the bank stamp on them

Yes, my passbook gets updated once a year, at extension time.  I'm just trying to avoid an extra visit to TTB.  My passbook is full - certainly not enough room for an update so i do need a new one.  Maybe TTB can provide one on the spot, when i go in for the statement and letter, but maybe not.  It took them quite a few days to provide the annual statement, last year.  Might be safer to get the new book a bit in advance - unless the e-book will do the job, which is why I asked if anyone had any experience of doing it that way.

If you're talking about the TTB Branch on 2nd Rd by Soi Honey I'm surprised that it took a few days for your annual statement for immigration.

I've been using that branch since the merger and was at that branch since it was Siam City Bank and got taken over by Thanachart.

I have always received my bank letter on the spot on a walk-in basis. Takes about 30 minutes but have never had to come back a different day.

I'll be going there again this coming Tuesday (4/29) to get my annual bank letter and then go to Jomtien to do my retirement extension. I always got to the bank right after they open and then directly to Jomtien. Never had any real problems.

I don't really understand how the virtual bank book works.  But I'll explain what CM Immigration requested for documentation regarding my SCB EZ Savings account that has no book at all.  When I opened the account, SCB did give me what looks like the front page of a bank book with my account details on it.

I'm on retirement extension and I used an embassy letter for my last two renewals.  Due to the rising Thai ฿ and an erroneous reduction in my pension benefits, I didn't meet the 800K threshold using my pensions for my most recent renewal.  I was only about 30K ฿ short so I requested that Imm. use my bank balance of 100K ฿ to make up for the shortfall.  I was surprised when they agreed.  I already had a 6 month statement and letter from the bank.  But, CM Imm. wanted a 12-month statement and a copy of the book cover given to me at account opening.  Luckily I had resisted the temptation to just throw it out since it didn't really seem that useful.

So, at least CM Imm. will grant extensions using Thai bank accounts that don't provide a bank book.
