Cheapest Car Insurance for an old beater Honda?

Old beater - worth nothing ? or hardly anything...

Basic Government Insurance (Compulsory insurance) - Por-Ror-Bor: About 645 baht per year.

Or, are you looking for 1st Class insurance ???

Otherwise you maybe looking at about 10,000 baht for a 10 year old Honda Civic... but may find trouble getting coverage as many companies do not want to cover vehicles older than 8 years.

Where can i buy this  Basic Government Insurance (Compulsory insurance) - Por-Ror-Bor  ?

When you renew your Vehicle Tax...

Thus: Any taxed car, will already have its Por-ror-bor - as you cannot get a car taxed without it.

You obtain your Por-Ror-Bor (Compuslury insurnace) at the DLT office.

There will be a small counter, where you buy the Insurance Document (show them the blue book for your car).

Then you queue for the Tax renewal and obtain that.

oh <deleted>,   so i don't even need to contact an insurance company about basic Liability insurance?

It depends.... Do you want additional 'liability insurance for YOU' ???? (thats a different subject).

Or do you simply want to make your car road legal at the most basic level with Compulsory Government insurance (Por-Ror-Bor) for your 'old beater Honda'  ???

It only covers limited medical expenses and life cover.  I does not cover damage to other vehicles/property.

No, CTP insurance only covers medical.

You are not being specific in what you are looking for, let us know what you want.

Search for 3rd party, fire and theft, insurance cover?

Third Party Fire and Theft provides cover for damage to your vehicle by fire and theft only and your legal liability for loss or damage to another person's vehicle or property.

The difference in premium between insurers for basic third party liability cover for a vehicle won't be much.

Last year I think I paid about baht 2,000 for basic liability cover for a pickup truck that is over 20 years old. That's in addition to the compulsory Por Ror Bor scheme.

Your aim is still a little confusing:

Are you looking for 'cover for yourself' to drive any car ??

Or,

Are you looking for minimum cover to drive your own car legally ???

Note: In Thailand its the car which is insured, not the person...  So, IF your car has basic Government Insurance (Pro-Ror-Bor) - then the car is covered and is road legal..  But as 'Upnotover' wrote - only some medical fees may be covered - damage to other vehicles or property is not covered.

So... You need to decide and be clear - Exactly what level of Cover are you looking for ???

Type 1 Insurance: Offers comprehensive coverage, including all types of damage to your vehicle, third-party property, and bodily injuries.

Type 2+ and Type 3+ Insurance: Provides a broader coverage, including third-party property damage and, in some cases, damage to your own vehicle due to specific incidents.

Type 3 Insurance: Covers third-party bodily injury and property damage.

There are plenty of brokers around that will help you out...
