Police Colonel Patikorn Sornchai, Deputy Commander of Chonburi Provincial Police, presided over a firearms training exercise aimed at enhancing the skills and readiness of police officers from Sattahip Police Station. The session took place at the Naval Special Warfare Command’s shooting range in Samae San, Sattahip District.

The refresher course focused on the handling and use of handguns and shotguns, with the objective of improving accuracy, confidence, and overall preparedness during high-risk operations. Leading the reception and coordination was Police Colonel Komsan Kumtunkaew, Superintendent of Sattahip Police Station, who welcomed the Deputy Commander and oversaw participation from 32 officers.

In his address, Pol. Col. Patikorn stressed the increasing dangers faced by police officers in the line of duty, particularly during anti-narcotics operations, where suspects often resist arrest. He emphasised that regular training is essential to reducing the risk of injury or death among law enforcement personnel.

“Training is a vital tool to help officers become more confident and competent in using firearms. With regular drills and skill development, officers are better equipped to protect themselves and the public while carrying out their duties effectively,” he stated.

The training session included a live demonstration by both the Deputy Commander and the Sattahip Police Chief, who showcased precise shotgun techniques to the attending officers.

This initiative forms part of the broader strategy to ensure that police officers remain physically and mentally prepared for the challenges of modern policing, especially in high-threat scenarios involving drug-related crime.

Don't understand the prone position for shotguns. And the way they're holding the guns standing they'll get a good slap, must just be a photo op.

Prone with shotguns is entirely appropriate, although semi autos are better.

Standing is the best position for recoil control in heavy calibers. Try shooting a 458 Win Mag prone.

'Police Officers Undergo Firearms Refresher Training to Boost Operational Efficiency'!

A headline oxymoron.  Police officers and operational efficiency should never appear in the same sentence.

I never understand from whence all these police materialise.  You never see one for months then, produce a camera, and hordes of photo-cops miraculously appear .
