Visa? Or extension?  If extension you'll only get to the expiry date of your passport so would normally be far better to get a new passport first.

A new retirement visa for one year. The old one expires in July.

You would need to apply for a 12 month extension.

Has financial requirements.

My question is specifically about minimal validity of the passport. The embassy is ready to give me a passport for one year exactly but as I heard there may need a month or two more before they can process my visa application.

What is the minimum passport validity required to apply for a retirement visa? Thanks.

There is no minimum requirement but you are best to have at least 6 months to avoid the risk of hassle when entering Thailand (or maybe even with issue of the visa).

Thereafter the visa remains valid for 12 months and if you get a new passport you simply carry both with you.

If I understood you right, if this is my second retirement visa application (in a row) - it is considered as an extension and I don't need to go through 2 months waiting period again before the visa is issued?

None of what you are posting makes sense.

Post exactly what visa you originally obtained and it's initial permission of stay.

Doubt you had a Non O-A.

Nothing clear

I got a retirement visa about 1 year ago for 1 year . I think it is NON-O-A. Now I interested in the procedure of extending this visa for one more year. I am especially interested in the passport validity minimum.

Sounds like you're taking about and extension. If a new one is issued in July it will be limited to the expiry date of your current passport.  And no, you don't have to wait 2 months for it but you must have maintained the correct amount in your bank account since the first extension.

Where did you get it?

If indeed you have a Non O-A and was obtained a year ago then a simple exit and reenter Thailand would grant you another 12 months or till expiry of pp

It would require insurance.

Again... It's just guess work trying to advise you.

You would know if it was Nin O-A as you would obtain it in pp country and go through all the hoops.,.. Medical, police clearance etc

Well you didn't get a non-OA. And if you haven't maintained the funds in your bank since last year you'll have to use them again for the renewal. And the renewal will be until the expiry date of your passport.

This is like extracting teeth.

Seems you obtained a Non O + extension via agent (Maneerat) Pattaya.

They can obtain you another extension however it will be valid only to expiry of pp.

You should have obtained a new pp in previous 12 months.

Agents can obtain extension months prior to expiry. You can go anytime from now
