In a devastating early morning accident on May 20, a speeding pickup truck slammed into a cement-laden trailer truck in Ayutthaya, resulting in one fatality and one critical injury. The collision occurred on the Nakhon Luang–Tha Ruea road in Bang Ban subdistrict, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province, and it caused the trailer truck to veer off course, crashing through a wall and damaging a spirit house shop at a petrol station.

Police Major Rukchat Prasobphon from Nakhon Luang Police Station received the incident report, prompting an immediate response from emergency services and rescue teams from Ruamjai Ayutthaya. Upon arrival, they found the Mitsubishi Strada pickup truck, severely damaged, with two individuals trapped inside. The 34-year-old passenger, Rangsarn Jiusangha, was found with weak vital signs and was rushed to Somdet Phra Sangharaja Hospital for urgent medical care. Tragically, the driver of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene, necessitating prolonged efforts with hydraulic tools to extricate their body, later sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Pathum Thani for autopsy.

The cement-carrying trailer truck, registered under Surin plates, suffered severe damage, with its front smashed and wheels detached. The impact caused brake failure, sending the trailer crashing into the petrol station's spirit house shop, wreaking further damage.

Chul Pimpsak, the 64-year-old trailer driver, recounted the sequence of events, explaining how the speeding pickup collided with his vehicle, triggering brake failure and loss of control, leading to the further crash into the shop. The incident has also been captured by closed-circuit television, which police are now reviewing as they conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the collision, including detailed interviews with the trailer driver.

This tragedy highlights the serious consequences of road accidents and underscores the need for vigilance and adherence to traffic regulations to prevent further incidents. The investigation continues as authorities seek to determine the exact circumstances that led to this unfortunate event.
