Those of us who live in SE Asia know Pattaya is an adult playground. It has nothing to do with Thailand as a country or culture. Do you think the Franfurt RLD represents Germany? Is all LA the Fig Stroll?

Those of us that live in Thailand know it is part of Thailand, nothing to do with culture, as this article is about female safety... Stay on subject.

No mate, but just know Pattaya is part of Thailand, and this story is about female safety in Thailand...it seems you have personal issue, and find this hard to understand...I certainly am not a fan of Pattaya.

Are you arguing just to argue?. Would you let your daughter walk down Soi 6?

I'd disagree. My female colleagues went to Pattaya, and were constantly being harassed by Indian tourists thinking they were prostitutes.

Frist Pattaya is not Thailand!

So where were they in Pattaya that all these Indians were harassing them?  Pattaya is a big place, did they go to the zoo, aquarium, botanical gardens etc.. or did they go to walking street or one of the other soi's known for prostitution?

Your comment is irrelevant... Even you question indicates it is not safe for females, so I don't understand what you are replying to. Seriously, you don't seem to understand the story, or comments.

Anyone who goes to Pattaya, especially around areas like walking street, can expect to be harassed.

Yep.

it happens to me everytime I go there.

soi 6,7,8 and coconut bar sexual harassment hotspots, vocally and physically.

She wasn’t single.

She had a boyfriend back in the UK and was with another young man on the beach.

Why would anyone in their right mind promote solitary travel for females anywhere? They are immediate targets for predators, especially in tourist areas. yes, it's relatively safe to travel country areas but that doesn't mean there aren't predators in those areas also. The safest way to travel is with at least two or more, and taking precautions and being aware of your surroundings, and never taking your eyes, or better yet hands off your drinks if you go to bars.

So why do TAT call it the worlds Family friendly destination.

Because they know no better.

Same. Not a place I would recommend. I only specified Pattaya as many people think of Pattaya when they want to visit Thailand without really knowing what it is like

Nor can you. Thailand is a safe place for solo female travelers except in places like Pattaya. Pattaya is a just giant brothel. Would you let your daughter wander through a brothel?

You comment is irrational and irrelevant, you can't pick and choose. We have had solo females assaulted, over the years, in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Pattaya, and, of course, the party islands.

There's gotta be some IF's.

During the day, not the sexpat places, 100% better than the West.  1000%

At night, around guys drinking (Thai or Farangs), it's uncomfortable.  My ex's all tell me how their old Thai bfs were after they drank.  I was near Laos, so maybe more than just drinking, who knows?  But things do get crazy, and I think that's everywhere.

In general, 100% better.  almost zero theft outside the big cities, maybe only 1-2 a year, you get a strange sense...and nothing happens.

again, I'm not a female and I don't usually go out after 10... lol

But I do think this list is accurate, which is super rare.

Would you want your daughter to hang out in Pattaya? Hanging on Walking Street?

I fail to understand why you ask, I never said anywhere in Thailand was 100% safe, so what is the reasoning behind your question
