Initially when I wired my garage as well as 2.5mm2 cable I ran 6mm2 and 8mm2 cable (for expansion).

I did a no-no by cutting some strands off the 6mm2 cable to fit in the normal power socket. At the time my current on the 6mm2 was only about 8A.

Now I want to wire it correctly and have the 6mm2 cable terminate into a blade to fit into a normal 10A power socket.

I can buy 6mm2 blades on Lazada but don't know if the blade it too big to terminate in the power socket.

Anyone got an idea of what to order?

Thanks.

Rather than try to fit a 6mm or 8mm tail into the standard power socket terminal you would be far better advised to get a terminal block that is designed for the 6mm cable and run 2,5mm tails from that

theses are available in every electrical supplier and all the big DIY stores in many sizes and multiple numbers of connections.

Good idea but I don't think I have the room.

Maybe I'll just solder a 2.5mm2 pigtail to the 6mm.

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, solder or crimp a pigtail would be my MO 🙂

If you solder make sure you have a good mechanical connection first.

A Western Union or Lineman's Splice is not difficult to do and is very secure even if not soldered.

Just because you don’t have room in the box in which you have the current power socket doesn’t mean you don’t have room. Just add another box to enclose the termination of the current large tails and the new smaller 2.5mm tails. There is no reason to try to attach the terminals of the incoming 6 & 8mm cables directly to the socket and every reason to keep them separate.
