You now claim your October 2023 post was a compliment — but come on. You dismissed both the Yaris and Corolla Cross, called them “crap,” and redirected the OP toward MG EVs — and you posted it in a thread titled: “New Toyota Yaris Cross Question.”

Now you say you “never commented on the ride,” yet you clearly said you’d “doubt it would be comfy.” That’s not neutrality — that’s a direct dismissal.

This demonstrates your modus operandi: hijack a topic, denigrate HEVs with misinformation, then redirect to EVs — particularly MG — even when off-topic. This latest post followed the same pattern until it was called out.

Fact check:

  • Yaris Cross = DNGA-B platform

  • Corolla Cross = TNGA-C platform

  • Most Bangkok taxis = older MC-platform Corolla Altis

  • Both models are modern, well-specced, and priced appropriately — not “cheap because of platform”

You're entitled to your opinion — but don’t rewrite history. It wasn’t a compliment then, and it still isn’t.

Owning 2 Vios s, basically a Yaris, and the Yaris Cross simply a Yaris on steroids, then I think I can guess how the ride might by. as the Vios was a POS, for the price point.  Though again, did serve us well.

Did have to replace the water pump, expensive strut, and wheel bearings, in less than 7 yrs / 125k kms owning.   So much for that reliability reputation, and I didn't beat it.

Yep, entitled to, and able to give my opinion.  They, the Corolla Cross, does 'look nice', but competition now, takes it out of any consideration ... IMHO, as the above post points out.

Overpriced & underperforming, with crap warranty on battery.  If so good, then why not a lifetime battery ? ... hmm

I'd buy an MG BEV then, as they come with a lifetime battery warranty.

Also cheaper than the Toyota Cross.  Take a peek at the MG S5.

Toyota Corolla Cross has overall dimensions of 4460mm (length) x 1825mm (width) x 1620mm (height).

Top Cross model, quite overpriced & underperforming ... IMHO

Along with MG S5, much less cost to maintain & operate.  You could take that 300k baht saved from buying the premium model, you could get a solar system at the house.  Now we're talking, damn near free electric, for home & BEV.

How much is your electric & petrol bill now a month.  Mine's less than 100 baht, and used to be upwards to 10k baht a month.

Just answering a reply, about someone's concern of battery warranty and replacement cost.

An intelligent person would buy one that has a lifetime warranty.  Just passing info, facts from manufacturers, not opinions, that some folks might not know about.

I believe that's the whole purpose of the forum.

Thank you for that idea. I agree with that. I'm consider that one. I'm not Fan of MG, as they don't do so well in many tests and they are small.
This one seems to be ok in size.
I do have solar setup, 5kw in Bangkok. And 5kw soon in my future  house in the mountain country side.

Im using 40-70% of the byd full baterry daily. 100-200 km daily.
I'm beating up this car to recoup the high investment.
You can see my full 100% range is a oily 330km. Far from 480km.
Another bad thing is the range. Should  be better.

I always  wanted a tesla model Y RWD, not wise decisions, terrible in the country side. If my situation is good I'll go for it.
Would be nice to have a fortuner electric.

Anyone considering a hybrid should look at the Honda alternative to Toyota. They have a more developed drivetrain that's probably setting the benchmark these days plus they are also being assembled in Thailand so cost effective here.

You're right — the RAV4 isn’t officially sold in Thailand. Toyota already covers that space with the Yaris Cross and Corolla Cross.

The Corolla Cross is closer to the RAV4 in size and comfort. It has a larger boot than the Yaris Cross (487L vs. 397L), more power from its 1.8L hybrid engine, and a smoother ride. Ground clearance is lower at around 161 mm, and fuel economy is about 23.3 km/L.

The Yaris Cross uses a 1.5L hybrid engine and gets better mileage — up to 26.3 km/L. It also has higher ground clearance at about 210 mm, which helps on flooded or uneven roads. Being smaller overall, it’s easier to drive and park in narrow sois or tight spaces.

Both are practical and efficient. It really depends on whether you prefer more space and power, or better fuel economy and easier city handling.

Have you ever driven a RAV4 hybrid?  The Yaris Cross and Corolla Cross are good vehicles, but they are very different from a RAV4 hybrid.  First of all, the RAV4 has a much larger 2.5L engine.  The RAV4 hybrid is also quite a bit larger than the Corolla Cross.  They really are different vehicles.  I'm sure that the Cross and Yaris probably get better fuel economy than the RAV4 but that would be expected.  I'm very happy with my 2024 RAV4 XLE hybrid.  The RAV4 also is very popular and outsells both the Yaris and the Cross in markets where all three are sold.

I actually drove a RAV4 back in 1998 — didn’t like the big turning circle.

I’m sure the 2025 Hybrid version is a completely different car and a solid choice where it’s sold. But in Thailand, it’s only available as a grey import, so comparisons with local models like the Yaris Cross or Corolla Cross aren’t really relevant.

Those models vary a lot between regions — different platforms, engines, drivetrains — so best to stick to what’s sold and supported here.

Enjoy the ride!

I too have a Yaris cross hybrid. It replaced my excellent Altis of 18 years , (and was still going strong, very few repairs, looked as new) until it drowned in the CM floods last year.

Also, every year, we traveled to Surin, A thousand KMs each way - for 17 years. Never a problem in all that time. However, Gasohol '91' costs were approximately 5,000 Baht - inclusive for outward and return journey. Not particularly expensive though.

We purchased the Yaris Cross in early December last year. Delighted in the modern press button starter, the change from battery to petrol and the savings were amazing and a smooth, quiewt engine - can hardly hear it unless the AC is humming away at certain times. Petrol, E20 is about 2 Thousand Baht for entire outward/return journey. #,500 Baht cheaper.

Comfortable and spacious, we three love it. My Wife shared the driving, 50/50, whereas with the Altis, I drove 80% to her 20% there and would do all all the return journey on my own.

I wouldn't want to go back to the older car, although I miss it.

I too had an Altis, a 2011 1850 cc ---great car, had it for six years.

I was always worried about it getting flooded, came close many times.

Once flooded i hear it's very hard to get the smell out.

I find the 210mm ground clearance on the Yaris Cross, a god sent for the flooded roads where I live.

What model Yaris did you buy?
