Bangkok Bank ATM cash deposits denied

I went to deposit 2k cash today at the Bangkok Bank ATM as I done  100s of times.

1. I selected cast deposits.

2. Inserted my card inputted my pin number etc..

The ATM returned my card, message on screen saying access denied at this time. ( I done the procedure 3 times )

I went into the bank and spoken to the bank staff, the staff told me that  foreigners can now only deposit cash in branch over the counter, and not at ATM ( banks reason staff said )

 

Only about 2 weeks ago I went into AIS my sim card provider I got proof that my  phone number is registered to me etc..

i then went into my Bangkok bank with the proof AIS given me to show the bank that my SIM card all matches to my account details.

I deposited a bit into Kbank today,  no problem. 

 

But I am not surprised. 

I mean,  just think about it, a foreigner, dirty looking, smelly and sweaty, whose name is dayo - he can only be an unscrupulous money launderer abusing poor innocent Thai banks for his nefarious deeds.

Could be a foreign prostitute too. I’ve read recently that they have been cracking down on this..  Depositing ฿2,000 hundreds of times?  🤔

Maybe other issues with Bangkok Bank too. Today (30th May), I initiated a transfer with WISE from me to my GF's Bangkok Bank account. The notice said it would arrive on 4th June. That's 5 days!!!  I cancelled the transfer and tried again.  Still said 4th June.

I then tried setting up transfer to my Kasikornbank. It said should arrive in SECONDS. This is what I did and it went through. I then sent from Kbank to GF's account with no delay.

 

Bangkok Bank is definitely placing scrutiny on everything now. A friend had same issue today too.

How much were you trying to transfer?  I had that problem when it was over 10k baht I think.  After cancelling and trying again for 9k it went through in seconds.

Try do 5 separate transactions of 9k baht next time, or just wait a few days for it to go through if you don't want to pay the extra fees.

Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd are holidays.

I did a cash deposit of 40k at a Bangkok Bank ATM last week, and it took the money the first time. I also updated my bank book afterwards. No problems.

The problem seems to be is that card-holders are selecting "cash deposit" FIRST without inserting their card. If they put this in BEFORE selecting an option there shouldn't be a problem. Why it is like this I have no idea but I deposited cash a week or so ago using this method.

The recent change in how Wise payments go into Bangkok Bank accounts is well documented now.  Just after 2:00pm on the following banking day in most cases. This used to be the rule when payments were for property purchase or long stay reasons, but now appears to be for all payment types.

I thought for a minute that you were a foreign prostitute depositing your short times earnings and getting hundred of clients !
