Thirteen individuals have been arrested for illegally gambling in a private building in the Suriyawong area of Bang Rak district, Bangkok. Police seized gambling equipment and cash during the raid, with all suspects now facing prosecution under gambling laws.

The operation took place on 30 May at approximately 15:30, after Bang Rak police received a tip-off from an informant about an illegal gambling ring operating inside a building on Soi Surawong 5. Following this, officers from Bang Rak Police Station, along with detectives from Metropolitan Police Division 6 and the city’s broader investigative division, coordinated a raid.

Led by Pol Lt Gen Siam Boonsom, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau and supported by senior officers including Pol Maj Gen Noppasin Poolsawat and Pol Maj Gen Samart Promchat, the raid was executed under the command of Pol Col Thammasak Sarabun, Superintendent of Bang Rak Police Station.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers surrounded the third floor of the building in question. There, they discovered a group of people actively engaged in a game of Hi-Lo, wagering for money without a legal permit. Police immediately moved in, announced their identity, and arrested all participants on site.

Seized at the scene were one complete set of Hi-Lo equipment and cash totalling only 520 baht, consisting of five 100-baht banknotes and one 20-baht banknote.

All 13 suspects admitted to participating in the illegal gambling session. The first suspect confessed to acting as the game’s organiser and was charged with “organising illegal gambling (Hi-Lo) for financial gain without authorisation.” The remaining 12 were each charged with “participating in illegal gambling (Hi-Lo).”

All suspects were informed of the charges and subsequently taken to Bang Rak Police Station, along with the confiscated evidence, for further legal proceedings.
