A distraught mother mourns her 17-year-old son, who was fatally shot by a group of youths while riding pillion on a friend's motorcycle in Bangkok. The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of 4th June near a new market site at Hathairat Road, Bang Chan.

Police and forensic teams arrived at the scene to find the teenager, a third-year vocational student, lying lifeless with a gunshot wound to the back.

Witnesses reported that the boy was with a friend on a blue and black Honda Wave motorcycle when they were pursued and shot at by another group on motorcycles.

The victim attempted to seek help from local residents before collapsing at a concrete area. His friend, who was driving, suffered a left ankle injury from the motorcycle tipping over.

The boy's family, upon arrival, was devastated. The mother said her son left home in Soi Phraya Suren 34 around 8:30 PM the previous night.

She was unaware of any conflicts he might have had.

Local police are reviewing CCTV footage and questioning the victim’s friend to gather information on potential suspects involved in the shooting.
