Fairynuff Posted Wednesday at 11:10 AM Posted Wednesday at 11:10 AM I recently bought some food online and made a transfer from my Revolut THB wallet for approx 1500 baht. The recipient later told me that he’d lost approximately 500 baht (and showed me his statement) Apparently it was fees taken by the intermediary bank or the local bank here. I assumed that a THB transfer to a THB bank account shouldn’t be an international transfer. Apparently not.
scubascuba3 Posted Wednesday at 11:28 AM Posted Wednesday at 11:28 AM That wouldn't happen with Wise 1 1

Revolut do not have bank accounts in Thailand. When you send THB from Revolut they simply send from outside Thailand to the target bank. Most if not all Thai banks hit you for a fee for incoming THB. I thought it was THB 300, but that was a long time ago. In any case I will have to close my Revolut account as one is not allowed to have a Revolut account when resident in Thailand.

Why is it an international transfer? Revolut gave me a long and convoluted response

Daves not here Posted Wednesday at 12:01 PM Posted Wednesday at 12:01 PM I won't trust wise or any of these fly by night fake banks. 1
Millian Posted Wednesday at 04:11 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:11 PM I do large and small transfers from my Revolut THB currency account to Thai bank accounts nearly ever week and the full amount is always received. When I've done transfers from a different currency account in Revolut then there is usually a few from the receiving bank. But I don't think any where near the amount that was lost here Are you sure you sent thb currency? If you are sure the receiver is not scamming you, then you should contact support to confirm if there should have been fees.

It's not a currency card transaction, it's a bank transfer which is different

I spent days trying to get a proper response from Revolut. They refuse to take any responsibility and don’t offer any explanation as to why a transfer from my currency account became an international transfer.
