As the Post correctly pointed out in the latter part of their article:

"....U.S. allies concerned about the welfare of their citizens at the military base, which became a global symbol of torture and abuse in the wake of counterterrorism tactics pursued by Washington after 9/11. [emphasis added]

He's the president.

Obama ordered the execution of American citizens by drone strike without trial.

I meant the poster. He said he could arrange for me to be sent there.

I posted about Obama the drone king and that killing earlier today 😁

I'll all be cool, if they're going to the same place.

Allies concerned that Trump isn't sending their citizens back? No problem, he can send them by C-130 to Rammstein, then load them onto helicopters, and drop them without parachutes into their home countries from 5,000 feet.

Hey, it's the same place, right?

Same news and story from Politico:

Trump team plans to send thousands of migrants to Guantanamo starting as soon as this week

"The Trump administration is planning to dramatically ramp up sending undocumented migrants to Guantanamo Bay starting this week, with at least 9,000 people being vetted for transfer, according to documents obtained by POLITICO.

...

The official reason for the transfers is to free up bed space at detention facilities on domestic American soil, but the use of the notorious facility, which has long housed terrorism suspects, would also send another signal aimed at deterring illegal immigration to the United States."

Ooops... Politico has added detail saying the Russians are gonna be sent there too....

"Some 800 Europeans — including one Austrian, 100 Romanians and 170 Russians — are being considered for the transfers, according to one of the documents. That element of the plan has alarmed some U.S. diplomats, who note that most European countries are American allies that are cooperative in taking back deportees and that there’s no need to send the people to Guantanamo. [emphasis added]

State Department officials who deal with Europe are trying to persuade DHS to abandon the plan. “The message is to shock and horrify people, to upset people,” one State Department official familiar with the situation said of the Guantanamo plan. “But we’re allies.” The person was granted anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media."

Ohh... the deportee part of Gitmo already sounds like it's a wonderful place:

Per Politico as cited above:

"The plan also comes amid intensifying legal efforts to block the administration from using Guantanamo Bay to house immigrant detainees altogether. A federal class-action lawsuit pending in Washington indicates that there are roughly 70 immigrant detainees currently held there and facing “punitive” conditions, such as insufficient food, weekly changes of clothes and rodent infestation."  [emphasis added]

“The government has identified no legitimate purpose that is served by holding immigrant detainees at Guantanamo, rather than at detention facilities inside the United States,” ACLU attorneys argue in the lawsuit. “Instead, defendants are using the threat of detention at Guantanamo to frighten immigrants, deter future migration, induce self-deportation, and coerce people in detention to give up claims against removal and accept deportation elsewhere.”

What's your point?

That the news media are "reporting" using a set of talking points?

I bet'cha if your google-fu is bigly strong, you can find scores of outlets repeating the same misleading phrases.

What's the European version of the U.S. Guantánamo prison in Cuba???

Maybe I ought to reconsider my European travel plans for the near future...  :hit-the-fan:

Not sure about Europe but the Brits got St , Helena an Island  about 5,000 miles south  and off the coast

of Africa.  A volcanic rock with a population of 5,000.
Napolean was exiled there and died .

You might want to give the UK a miss just in case  !!
