A long-running dispute over noise between neighbours turned violent in the early hours of morning of 15 June, when a 57-year-old man shot his neighbour in the head following a confrontation over loud noise from a motorcycle repair shop. The incident occurred at 03:15 in Village 9, Ban Kong Subdistrict, Nong Ruea District, Khon Kaen Province. CCTV footage captured the dramatic scene outside a local motorbike repair shop where the gunman, identified as Mr. Udomwit, approached the premises armed with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun. He appeared visibly agitated and confronted the shop’s owner about the late-night noise, reportedly caused by drinking and talking loudly. According to witnesses, including the victim’s wife and friends, an argument quickly escalated. The victim, Mr. Noppadon, 30, allegedly responded defiantly, stating that he was armed as well. The verbal exchange became increasingly heated, culminating in Mr. Udomwit firing two shots, one of which struck Mr. Noppadon in the head, leaving him critically injured. He collapsed to the ground in front of his terrified wife. Emergency services were called immediately and Mr. Noppadon was rushed to Khon Kaen Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. In a surprising turn, the suspect did not flee the scene. Instead, he waited calmly and surrendered to officers from Nong Ruea Police Station. Police Colonel Yutthana Ngamchat, Superintendent of the station, confirmed that Mr. Udomwit handed over the weapon, a black CZ-brand 9mm semi-automatic pistol registered under licence number KT39122871, still loaded with rounds in the magazine. During police questioning, Mr. Udomwit admitted to the shooting, saying he had lost his temper due to repeated disturbances from the adjacent repair shop, which often hosted late-night drinking sessions that disrupted his sleep. He has been charged with attempted murder and illegal use of a firearm. The case has sparked renewed debate over noise pollution and vigilante justice, with local residents expressing concern over how simmering neighbourhood disputes can spiral into violence. thesetat Posted Monday at 01:51 AM Posted Monday at 01:51 AM Hmm... shooting someone over such a silly thing... He does not need to worry about noise now. He will be in a crowded cell with many others making noise through the night. Sad someone had to lose their life over this. 1 7
Popular Post Briggsy Posted Monday at 01:55 AM Popular Post Posted Monday at 01:55 AM Udomwit will probably have a long time in prison and justifiably. In his mitigation, there are few things more likely to push you over the edge than sleep deprivation. It is standard practice during interrogations designed to break the prisoner. 1 3 1

Believe me, it is a not a silly thing when you can't sleep until 4 or 5 am and have to wake up at 6am to go to work. There are times when I feel like doing exactly the same to the illegal drinking places next to us. (Of course I won't do it, but the thoughts are there) 6 2

OTT sure...but the anguish you start to feel in the early evening, knowing what's in store night after night can cause havoc to your mental state. Nobody should have to feel anxious about being in their own home or sleeping. Another reason not to buy. 100pc 1 1

riclag Posted Monday at 12:24 PM Posted Monday at 12:24 PM Charges should be brought against the local municipality, as well! For not handling the dispute thats been allowed to fester. This is becoming increasingly common! Thai’s settling disputes with violence because of noise nuisance . Excessive noise by Dog’s , music, cars, motorcycles , drunks or arguing people suck. 1 1

If they behave they can get out in 8 years! ( incarcerated well behaved people get rewarded). It sick but true sometimes.

I would act like it was nothing, be peaceful. Says the farang who gets triggered reading a post about Trump. Not sleeping one night is enough to get any human upset, maybe "long-running" was years. Maybe it destroyed his children's ability to sleep and do well in school; nobody here knows. Maybe I should go and scream in your face from 1 am to 4 am every night for months. Then laugh at you when you don't like it. Then do it more. Then louder. Maybe the shop wasn't there before, don't you people realize shops just appear overnight here? Nobody is allowing a party in their house every night if the owner is 57, and because walls here are so thin -- next door can feel like in your place.. This was definitely going to escalate at some point. Noise is terrible. Shoot in the head? Definitely not the right answer. Burn the place down? Hey, nobody died. 1 1 1
Briggsy Posted Tuesday at 11:37 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:37 PM I lived in an area in Bangkok that was not too busy when I moved in but became a Thai late night pub area gradually, with more and more venues opening. I had to go to work early 5 or 6 days a week. The sleep disturbance truly drove me up the wall. I was surprised the effect it had on me, somewhere between anguish and rage. 1

So, Thai university students (and their friends or relatives who may visit them in the future) will never have an interest in sound systems with overdriven sub woofers! Got it 👌 😂
