A 42-year-old man was killed in a road crash on the morning of 16 June, when his big bike collided with the rear of a pickup truck before careening into a utility pole along Phahonyothin Road in Khlong Luang district, Pathum Thani.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Siroj Naebnian, Deputy Inspector of Khlong Luang Police Station, received the emergency call at around 05:30. Emergency responders from the Por Teck Tung Foundation and forensic medics from Thammasat University Hospital were dispatched to the scene, approximately 50 metres before a petrol station on the outbound frontage road.

At the scene, officers found the lifeless body of Mr. Jirasak 42, near his overturned Honda 650cc motorcycle bearing Lopburi registration. Impact marks and damage on the footpath suggested the motorcycle had hit a pole with significant force. Roughly 30 metres away, a grey Isuzu pickup truck with Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya plates was found with its left rear tail light torn off.

The pickup truck driver, Mr. Kritsada also 42, told investigators that he had been driving from Nava Nakorn Industrial Estate in the express lane and intended to exit into the petrol station via the parallel road. “I checked the mirror and saw no vehicle approaching,” he claimed. “Suddenly, I heard a loud crash. I didn’t even see where the motorbike came from.”

After documenting the scene, police transported the deceased to Thammasat University Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Mr. Kritsada was brought to Khlong Luang Police Station for further questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities are working to determine the precise cause of the accident, including reviewing CCTV footage from the area. Initial findings suggest excessive speed and lane merging may have contributed to the fatal collision.
