Makati City has become the first in the Philippines to implement a fully integrated digital healthcare system, offering round-the-clock medical access and advanced diagnostics. Announced by Mayor Abby Binay, this groundbreaking development is supported by over PHP 16 billion in healthcare investments from 2017 to 2025.

The system integrates various platforms, including the Virtual Queuing Management System (VQMS), KonsultaMD telehealth services, the Makati Life Medical Center, and a Health Information Management System (HIMS). These are connected to streamline electronic medical records across all facilities.

This initiative required a PHP 3.47 billion investment, underscoring the city's commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology with medical care. Mayor Binay highlighted the transformation: “We've reimagined healthcare in Makati. From online bookings and AI-powered cancer detection to video consultations and medicine delivery, technology enhances our compassionate care.”

The Virtual Queuing Management System, launched in 2021 and an award-winning innovation, allows residents to book appointments online, removing the need for early morning queues. The system provides real-time updates and operates 24/7.

At the core is Makati's Yellow Card programme, offering all-encompassing health services to cardholders. This includes appointments, consultations, diagnostics, medications, free vaccinations, and full hospitalisation at no cost. A partnership with KonsultaMD, established in May 2023, ensures 24/7 teleconsultations, including mental health support.

Makati Life Medical Center, part of a significant public-private partnership, opened its outpatient department in May 2023, with complete operations set for 2025. It features the Philippines' first AI-powered PET/CT scanner for rapid cancer detection, along with other state-of-the-art diagnostic tools.

The fully digital integration allows seamless scheduling, consultations, diagnostics, and synchronised electronic medical records across all platforms, ensuring continuous care.

Despite the technological embrace, the city assures residents that human care remains central. Initiatives like house-to-house medicine delivery for seniors and vaccinations ensure personal touch remains vital.

Mayor Binay concludes, “We've created a universally accessible healthcare system. Covering every life stage — from maternal and infant care to senior services — it's all free. Makati is setting a benchmark for the future of urban healthcare.”
