Where to buy ground coffee for mokka pot?

I just got scammed by an online coffee dealer who was recommended here a while ago. 

Please do not recommend Makro, BigC, Lotus.

Imported coffee may be an option,  but I would like to try Thai or other regional coffee. 

 

Iirc somebody once recommended a place in Sukhumvit 71?

Bon Cafe coffee, ground or beans, available at their shops, or sold at chain stores you don't want recommended, with so many other name brands.  I preferred Bon Cafe's 'Morning Blend', tastiest for me, and added plus of being their least expensive.

 

Finding ground coffee in TH, BKK, shouldn't be a problem.

I have tried all brands at BigC/Lotus/Makro, Makro is a disaster (as expected), BigC used to have espresso from Casino. They don't have it anymore,  they now sell Lavazza at 5 times the European price. For the  money I spend in a year I almost get a r/t ticket to Europe.

Illy sells online for twice the European price. 

 

Like my friends, I used to bring my coffee from Europe.  I find that ridiculous and want to change to something local.

 

After a series of bad experiences with online shopping I ordered from Caferonn (as recommended by @Cameroni, thx) , actually got something and it seems ok.

 

I still would prefer a brick-and-mortar-and-coffee place.

Sad to read that you had a poor experience purchasing Thai coffee on-line.  I've been buying beans on Shopee for a couple of years now.  The brand that purchase was Sole, but it seems they have been acquired.  The last order was for Aro, but some providers called it Aero.  The bag says Aro. It's an Arabica and Robusta mix.  I noticed on some of the vendor's sites that they are also offering 'ground' coffee, too. (same brand).

 

Good luck. Much cheaper on Shopee and they provide a certain confidence that you'll not be completely scammed.

The Shopee shop that I used was "pop118119".  I bought a 1 kg bag for 654 baht delivered.

OP can't seem to find ground coffee than he/she likes, so buying the beans of the same won't help. 

 

Could buy green beans & roast them to his/her preferred darkness.   We tried that, and we're too impatient and can't be bothered.   Since he/she buying ground coffee, speaks volumes of not caring even if his/her coffee is fresh ground.   A bit telling in itself

Me too.   I have a grinder but I actually prefer the ground. Not much difference but so convenient.

From what I've understood they can't find ground coffee of the beans they want, but hey....

Most higher end supermarkets have good ground coffee...

 

Examples: Gourmet Market top floor of Emporium.

 

The advantage of this is that you can choose the beans you want, and then select the exact grind size.

Plenty of other Malls will have such a system where you can choose the beans and they grind to size for you.

 

For Mokka Pot, I find some of the 'pre-bought' ground coffee to be too coarse, and prefer an espresso grind, which some find makes a slightly 'muddy' Mokka-pot coffee (but I like it)...

 

Thus: ideally, a fine grind that is slightly more coarse than an Espresso grind, not as course as used for Drip or Pour over....

 

This 'fine' grind is slightly harder to find, which is why if pre-ground I get Espresso Grind...

I was surprised about OP's request not to recommend chain store, as have a larger selection of beans, and will grind to your specification.   Also surprised, OP doesn't grind  beans, as fresh ground should always be better.  

 

We only grind what we will use, at the time we prepare our coffee.

I wasn't surprised HH's Gourmet Market closed, since except for the food court, the mall wasn't very busy when we are there, though we don't get there on weekends.

For whatever reasons - BluePort in HH has died a death and Market Village Remains more popular... 

 

Anyway - the Op is asking for coffee - lots of options in BKK...   from buying espresso grid and having the coffee slightly muddy... to getting the coffee ground himself at a higher end supermarket.
