I can only control me and my world.  F the rest of the world.  They want to live in trash, that's up to them.    Way more than a Thai problem.  G20 countries export their trash to 3rd world countries.  There's the problem, compounded.

 

Plastic is good, well, better.  Paper is bad, the worst.   Google and enlighten yourself.  People are and always will be bad, and will always be the problem.   Not the products.

What do you think the municipality does with the trash; burn, landfill and or dump in sea.  I don't know of any local landfill.  

 

We burn what little trash, mostly plastic bags, wrappers of whole foods.   We compost anything else.  Recyclables that we don't use, get sold.   That's as eco friendly as one can be.

 

Until there is a local trash to energy plant, we'll continue to burn our trash.  Same or better than giving to municipality.

 

I hate selling the recyclables, as very little is actually recycled.  That's another farce people believe 🙄

The toxic chemicals released during burning include nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide, volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) and polycyclic organic matter (POMs). Burning plastic and treated wood also releases heavy metals and toxic chemicals, such as dioxin.

None planned, and we don't even have any low tech WTE plants ... hmm, wonder what they do with the trash ???

Thailand is way ahead of it's neighbors, which in itself is really sad.  A work in progress, but not expecting any down here in the Land of Pineapples.

Reading comprehension.  I probably do exactly what the municipality will do, burn it.  I don't agree with putting non biodegradables in landfills, or worse, dump in sea.

I have no use of paper.  I'm not an idiot, and cutting down trees is the last thing people should do.   Farms can not regenerate trees as fast as the logging industries destroys them.

Paper cost more to produce, uses more energy to produce, and due to size & weight, more energy to transport.   Along with takes up more space in landfills.   Also can not be recycled as many times.   Cons all around.   Plastic Rocks.

 I find the canvas bags jolly useful for storing the plastic bags I accumulate shopping.

@novacova Why would anyone buy paper bag, when most have more plastic bags than they'd ever use.   Kind of defeats the whole purpose, as not only are you trashing your extra bags, you buying paper bags to throw away.

 

Hey, I found a paper bag in the house.   Probably a take away from nice restaurant the other day.   Useful for holding plastic bottles

We used to have a landfill site in our Amphur which you could take stuff to yourself. Always a few there with pointed sticks picking over the rubbish. 

 

They started locking it up when the Amphur started a rubbish collection service ( for which you pay).

Doesn't last very long.  About 3 months of trash, mostly plastic bags & plastic packaging goes up, then out within minutes.   

 

As stated earlier, most everything goes to the compost pile or sold.  Couple coffees & pastry, maybe, for our trouble.  Just hope part of the sold crap actually gets recycled.  50% would be a nice number, though doubtful.

Have no idea why anyone would buy a paper bag, that’s really none of my business just it’s really none of my business why anyone prefers a plastic bag, unless of course they start filling the neighborhood with plastic bag burning smoke, which certainly wouldn’t blow well with the local community here.

Didn't even know we had it, and as stated ... "Probably a take away", from restaurant, as they seem to like putting pastry in paper containers & bags.   Stupid actually, since absorb moisture.

 

Would never buy, and haven't seen for sale, well, never looked for.  Don't want termite food in the house.

 

During scamdemic, everything was was wrapped in plastic, 2 or 3X 

 

Plastic is bad, paper is good ... what a scam, and y'all fell for it 🙄
