Can anyone explain the rationale behind such an action?

I’ve already seen it 4 times this morning on the roads..

Being a controlled society they fear Covid because others have told them it can kill some, yet dismiss the fact 60 die each day here with the majority being motorbike drivers without helmets, even though they've been told this for decades.

so, why is it this way?

why don’t they listen to the helmet stats as closely as the listen to the covid ones?

it’s baffling to me.

The vehicle fumes, dust, silica, insects and road debris that floats over the roads is pretty bad.  There are some days, when one has to wear the mask or else spend a few hours coughing and sneezing toxic dirt.

but why no helmet?

Statistics show that 99.9% of Thais not wearing a helmet today will not have a problem.

Wearing a helmet when driving a car would also save lives but you don’t do it.

And with your history of vehicle collisions in Thailand it might be a good idea.

Thais can do what they want, nobody is “controlling” them to wear masks on a motorcycle.

If you don’t like the freedom here then leave back to your country where you will be controlled and you will wear a helmet on a motorcycle

Tell that to the 45 that die daily on the road from mostly head injuries. Do you drive your scooter after drinking also, which would mean you aren't driving safely but are a dangerous person on the roads here.

More die from Covid and lung infections daily in Thailand.

No I don’t ride drunk, it isn’t safe.

How many times will you bring up my two accidents here caused by locals when you drive here drunk, likely daily, and are putting other innocents at risk? Not wearing a helmet on a motorbike is a stupid action which can kill you and have others here that might hit you in jail for manslaughter.

I guess that the 60 or so that die each day mean nothing, seeing the stats show most get away with it, at least for now.

Funny, I've driven here probably 2500 days without an accident, and have avoided many weekly from locals driving recklessly. And I don't drive after drinking, because I actually care about life.

If you are going to make up numbers and statistics at least stick to your story.

Sure.  Once you arrive at your destination, you have to figure out what to do with your helmet (that you spend good money on if it's going to protect your noggin).  You can put a face mask in your back pocket.

I don't make up anything. Stats here are easily researched. Every foreigner that lives here knows how many die here daily, and who the victims are. 85% are motorbike drivers, so the amount is close, as we don't hear about how many die after they leave the scenes.

I have had zero accidents obeying the road safety signs.

The drink doesn’t affect me.

That's what every drunk says before they kill others and or themselves. That statement further enhances how you think.

I don’t get on bikes often, but when I do I know I am capable and will not crash, always riding safely and defensively. So a helmet is not necessary.

One think I can not avoid is the pollution so I always put on a mask for lung health.

It also saves me putting on sunblock.

Are you number 4 or 5 or 6 using a photo of Nigel as their Avatar?

What's the BS about sunblock?

He will be our next PM.

Most of my Thai girlfriends love my pasty white skin, so by wearing a mask it keeps it that way and also protects against wrinkles and skin cancer.

Did you change a word in Wiggy's last sentence ie drive to drink, thinking it is funny?
